What does that mean?Ok, we leave it for couple of weeks. - Andy
I'm guessing it means that there's no point in continuing the discussion until you have access to your car and post a photo or two. What does that mean?
Quite right. - AndyI'm guessing it means that there's no point in continuing the discussion until you have access to your car and post a photo or two.
It was bought by my mum and dad in 2004. In January it is going to become my first car. I just noticed the seat thing the other day when we were re-charging the battery. It isn't currently MOT'd as it has an engine issue so we are waiting till I have passed the test to fix it and get it road legal. Hope this explains a lotCurious, Antiguakidd according to profile is aged 16, and bought his FSI when aged 4. Explains a lot.

It certainly did for me, I had that exact problem seat locked in the up position and handle wouldn’t pull up to release.
Did the kneel bounce trick and it released.
In my case as with most when the seats lock it was caused by the seat base not being located correctly and by bouncing on the base this caused the base to engage correctly and as soon as that happened the release handle worked correctly and the seat folded as if like magic.

I'm in Staines/Heathrow if that's near? My son, the A2 owner, is only 17 and had his when he was 16 and a half, we went through a similar learning curve as you. Good luck.Unfortunately we both live too far from you to assist. I would have thought some of our London members could help you though.
Thats confused me just a bit, is there anyway you could rephrase or add a picture to show me where you mean to hit it?Had a similar issue yesterday, seat up at outside corner and backrest wouldn't release. Bouncing and pulling lower release handle didn't work, but hitting the side of the backrest in the middle of the car a!lowed us to work the backrest release up and fold the seat down. Then kneel on top and pull release handle up and ithe raised corner slots into place to tumble and remove the seat as normal. Good luck

Sorry no pics. I was assuming you'd removed the other rear seat. If you haven't, do so. Then you can push or strike the stuck backrest on the end in the middle of the car that the other seat was butted up to. This should allow you to pull up the release handle on the other top corner of the backrest, and fold the backrest down. However the seat base still won't be seated properly, and you won't yet be able to release it to remove the seat from the car. To get it to engage, kneel on top of the folded down backrest and pull upwards on the handle in the base. You'll hear or feel the click when the raised corner seats itself. Then release and remove the seat as normal.
