There is a filter in each petrol pump, on each grade of fuel, so dirt being drawn from the tank is unlikely. The meter that measures the fuel you buy, is made to very tight tolerances, (to meet the legal accuracy), and is at least as sensitive to dirt as your car.Yes I've acknowledged his early diagnosis. Perhaps supermarket fuel is dirty of maybe aftermarket filters are not as good as Audi. I don't buy rubbish though.
You read a lot of negativity about supermarket fuel. I have no choice and have been using it for 25 years and been perfectly happy with it. This the first time I've even thought to be suspicious.
