195/65/15 tyres

Can anyone tell me if these tyres will go on my car without any problems, I’ve got 175/60/15 on the standard forged alloys now, but I can get 195/65/15 of a friend for humble money but will they fit inside the arch without problems ??? Any advice please

Fairly certain, too big, they are 43mm larger in diameter than what you have now.

195/65x15 would be nearly 7½% greater diameter and rolling circumference than the reference size. That would cause noticeable under-read on the speedo.

The following six tyre sizes are about as big as you can go as far as the outside diameter of the tyre goes:

185/70R14, 195/60R15, 205/50R16

185/65R15, 195/55R16, 205/45R17

Go one size down on the aspect ratio and you get:

185/65R14, 195/55R15, 205/45R16

185/60R15, 195/50R16, 205/40R17

These last six tyre sizes have similar outside diameters to the standard A2 tyre sizes.

My preferred tyre size for the A2 is 185/65R15 on 5Jx15 ET28 5x100 57.1 steel rims. It's a very cheap tyre size with an enormous range of quality tyres including Michelin Primacy 4, Continental PremiumContact 6, Continental WinterContact TS860, and many others. It's very comfortable, low drag for more mpg, yet with enough grip. Fitting the 185/65 tyre to a narrow 5" rim makes the sidewalls flex more easily for even more comfort. The 28mm offset moves the tyre to the outside of the wheelarch for that sporty look.
