Yo dude. I took the advice to see 'George' at Neepsend Tyres (Hicks Street, Sheffield). He does a 'walk-in service'. Guess what.... Within an hour, he'd checked the rims, the so called 'balancing' done by National Tyres on behalf of PGA, and rebalanced all four wheels. They're fully 'true' now and the judder/vibe has gone! This has been the bane of my life...
...when the car was under warrantly, I let the dealer do it, who is now only the VW dealer, they always did a good job, Hayseldens in Donny.
Since then the best wheel balance I've had (and I'm just about to go back to have my new tyres done) is this old bloke called George, at Neepsend tyres.
He works for himself, and is the only person who's ever managed to balance mine and leave no judder.
I've just had a pair of tyres fitted by National, and I've been back twice and they are kak, old man george, here I come.
I work in Sheffield, and travel up and down the bumpy parkway every day, for the last 4 years.

So much for 'buckled rims' and 'stepped tyres' and all the Tech. expertise! PGA had my car for three weeks and couldn't find the fault. George is a one man operation who's been in the busines for fifty years. His premises may look a bit 'Heath Robinson' - but he came up with the goods today. The best bit is the price. He charged me three quid a wheel! I was so happy I chucked a further 'tenner' in.
The bad news is he's looking at retiring by the end of the year, but his son-in-law is taking over the business. He says he wants to keep his hand in though as he enjoys it so much.
I've already drafted a letter to PGA asking for my money back on unneccessary tyre fitting and warranty work... It'll no doubt drag on and on....
Thanks again for the advice
