Can anyone tell me whether my Grundig radio cassette is compatible with this aftermarket Bluetooth adapter for playing music and if so, which pins I connect to?

I know that @timmus will know the answer!

Many thanks.

It will connect to the CD changer, top left in your diagram. If you have a CD changer, you'll loose it, as a consequence.
Didn't it come with a connector?
I'd not like to guess which wire goes to which pin.
Mac.

Thanks done it. Bluetooth adapter flashes and pairs now but I can’t select it. Think I need to change a setting in coding with OBDeleven.

I’ve had the adapter kicking around in the garage for a while and removed the plug ages ago.

i bought a similar cheap adapter for my chorus 2 which behaved the same - i could pair the dongle but not select the bt function.
tom mentioned that the stereo requires a digital signal from the bt dongle in order to 'wake up' the additional input mode on the stereo which isn't included.
maybe yours is the same?

Yeah, this sounds likely. Thanks for the message though as it saves me trying and trying again. 👍🏻

Must be the case that it needs a digital signal as I’ve coded radio 02002 for the CD multi-changer and still no joy!

Had to revert to plan A and use a FM transmitter, both work perfectly for music, SD card and phone using frequency 87.6.

Not so neat a needs unplugging as cigarette socket is permanently live.

For a plug in BT adapter to work, it has to emulate the CD changer. The Chorus/Concert II radios have no aux in, so the adapter needs to be recognised, by the radio, as the Audi CD Changer.

Hi folks,

In haste, as I only have a few hours at home between other commitments...

These basic Bluetooth adapters that only have 3 pins are not compatible with the Audi Chorus/Concert/Symphony stereos.

^^^ Exactly this. ^^^

Cheers,

Tom

I’ve sorted this out now and share my findings to assist others. I’ve found a great plug & play Bluemusic adapter:

This worked perfectly, is reasonably priced and fitted in 10-mins.

I bought a cheap BT adapter with three pins and it did not work:
I didn't research if it is possible to rewire it, because I went with BlueMusic adapter and I am a happy customer.

Back in the land of A2 ownership again with a 2001 vehicle fitted with a Chorus 1 single din cassette / radio. Want to keep the original look and keep the stereo unit but add Bluetooth behind the scenes

Saw some videos (@mtl) on the forum linking a BlueMusic device to the Chorus 1 stereo so bought one. Sadly looks like my A2 is missing the wiring for the CD changer (pic below) so not possible for me.

Q/ Just wanted to ask if any of you know of a way to get Bluetooth to the stereo given the wiring I have in situ? Would a Parrot or Xcarlink system work.

This was how mine was on a 2005 A2 TDi with a Chorus II; hope this helps.

The CD changer connector is always present on the radio even if one was not fitted, so no problem fitting a BT adapter to yours.
Mac.

Thanks Mac. Will check again. Mine is a early 2001 A2 and the multi changer cable (see picture) does not seem to be present or am I wrong?

You're looking at the loom which connects the car to the radio. You need to look at the radio. The radio itself has the CD changer connection, but it's not used when no changer is fitted, but the BT adapter plugs into the radio itself. The adapter comes with a cable that connects the radio to the existing loom, retaining normal operation, but also connects the BT thingy to the radio. Sounds complicated, but once it's in front of you, it's not that bad at all.
Mac.
