Great description of the issue Paul.
The picture above posted by Vic, for bleeding, is that the master cylinder or slave cylinder.
From what you said, best to replace the slave cylinder first, bleed the system & if the problem comes back, then replace the master cylinder
which you have kindly offered to sell in your earlier tread.

That is the slave cylinder which is what normally fails. This is the exact part that I offered you and easy to change out
When bleeding ensure to keep the master cylinder reservoir full as clutch is the highest take off and as such can easily introduce air into the system when you are trying to remove all air
