Engine mount 2005 1,4TDI

Wow, thanks for sharing that Menno! I had been wondering if it might be possible to somehow refurbish the old mount by pouring/injecting in some new rubber but this is a neater solution.

Lemforder 3054701 which can replace 8Z0199212K is listed at £62.62 on the following website. However, I've never heard of autopartstechnik so it could be a scam website.

On autodoc, the engine mounts listed to replace 8Z0199212K are only shown to be suitable for the 1.2TDI.

If you contact Audi dealership, they will confirm 8Z0199212K is correct for ATL. I can also confirm J and K are identical as I replaced the motormount myself on my ATL

Although I don't have an A2 anymore (do have a Toyota iQ now..... Don't ask, it's a raincoat during the day's I do not like to bike to work (but secretly I love the iQ)), I got a question about this (Polo) motor mount R/H side. If I fancied to alter it....... Sure, I gave it a go!

Piccie's of difference between the original and Polo and the welded on bit. View attachment 99624

The welding is TIG welding, and I was a little bit scared because I didn't want to heat up the material too much (melt the rubber to be precise...). In the end the attaching point is sturdy enough (I hope..... ;)), but a road test will tell.

Cheers.
Pretty soon, I will report back how the engine mount will hold. As always I have full confidence in Menno’s skills. Till then…..

‘autopartstechnik’ appear to be Midland Car Spares Ltd. The web site does seem a little flakey though. They are a legit company but I don’t think I have ever used them.

@Menno

Very clever, but just wondering… Instead of welding, could an easier solution be to bolt the new mount to the baseplate of the old original one? Tried to indicate what I mean below (red circles means bolt) As seen from Celsisones photos, there is space below the mount so should be space for bolts

Yes, it should be possible to bolt the Polo mount to the original base plate, but....... It wil sit 3mm higher, not worth mentioning (maybe), and you've got to demolish/detach the original damper from the mount; If, for some reason, the Polo mount fails you're left with nothing. So the choice was made to leave the original as is, so there's a back up if required.

About this engine mount (8Z0 199 212 J) - I am investigating the possibility to make an adapter base for installation of the Polo bush (already bought one) - but I need prepare it all before taking any parts from my A2...

And as it is very hard to buy a used (even damaged) engine mount with its base - I would need some help from someone who can get a hold of original base - for measurements...

So if anybody have the base for right side engine mount for BHC/ATL engine - I would appreciate some measurements

Has anyone confirmed that 8Z0199212J and 8Z0199212K are absolutely identical parts - as opposed to the latter being unique to the 1.2 TDI?

Sorry David but if the parts were identical then there would be no need for unique part numbers.

That is not to say they physically are not the same but remember Audi reduced weight on components for the 1.2 tdi so may not be strong enough for other heavier applications.

As I thought.

This website gives all the other brand part numbers that are directly interchangeable. I searched for the Lemforder number but couldn't find any of those available either. Someone desperate may get lucky with one of the others.

Has any one contacted Vibra Technics about uprated mounts ? They don't list A2 parts but here's some Polo parts :

I'm new to this forum and A2 ownership. Engine mounts was going to be my first proper postings etc.

I bought a modified 2001 AMF engined car last month. Within 2 weeks the dogbone to gearbox bracket broke. After undertray removal I found only 1 bolt holding the braket to the gearbox. ONLY 1 !! & this had broken through the bracket hole. What a BODGE !
From this forum I've learned that my car has a JDD gearbox conversion and there should be 2 bolts, the third not in alignment etc. I coud write more but needless to say the braket has been repaired and secured with 2 bolts spacers and locktight to the gearbox. I fitted a new Febi dogbone which seems thicker than original VAG parts. In my younger years of driving 16V Mk2 Jetta/golf I learned these front wheel drive cars have issues with the whole engine/Gbox rocking back & forth. I fitted an uprated front Vibra Technics mount behind the radiator, no dog bone used in those days by VAG I believe. Problem solved.

Just out of interest do any forum members run uprated dogbones ? Is there more vibration heard or felt ?

So back to the other mounts, I'm very interested in the outcome of this modification and whilst reading I've check part numbers and models etc. Great service of these forums to newbies ! Thanks :)

So there's this part number 6R0199167AE listed for other VAG models. This seems to be available on usual websites.

If there's other older posts regarding engine/Gbox mounts please send me there with a link as I'm a newbie hungry for info !

Not dogbone but the other 2 mounts please.

Here's a photo of the uprated Polo mount from VT :

8Z0199212K is now out of stock from AUTODOC, anyone know where can I find a replacement?

Believe it has never been stock in Autodoc, so the dealership is the only source most likely. «Cheaper» from german dealerships.
