Engine Re map / Drive shafts wear

Hi all,

Got a Sport 90 remapped by stealth, Had new drive shafts about 3 months ago, I put this down to Milage / wear & tear. (165k)

6 weeks later, new drive shaft gone, garage put it down to faulty supplier.
(replaced under warranty)

Seems like I'm getting new symtons of drive shaft wear, phoned stealth spoke to Vince and asked if the re map would chew up the shafts, he said no.

Anybody had any similar issues with re maps & shafts wear ??

(Shafts bought from local supplier not Audi dealership)

Cheers.

I was running 150bhp on my TDI 90 for over a year and it was also lowered 80mm. I had no issues with driveshafts whatsoever and if any situation was going to kill a driveshaft then that was it.

Which supplier did you use for the new shaft?

It had a turbo dynamics hybrid turbo, darkside developments custom cam, landrover freelander alloy intercooler, silicone pipework, cone filter, 2.5 inch stainless de-catted exhaust from manifold to tailpipe and a stealth remap.

It made 148.8bhp at stealth before having the larger intercooler, silicone pipes and stainless de-catted downpipe. I said 150bhp being conservative but with the extra mods it was probably making quite a bit more.

I really do miss driving that car :) here's the project thread https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/project-peperami-my-keeper-a2steve.33817/

it was bought by member @Mart but haven't heard how its doing now.

Do you have a photo of the failure , I had similar on a set of replacement shafts on a Galaxy, had them exchanged as defective

Sorry for the thread swerve Andrew.

The pipework was for a landrover freelander because the diameter of the in and out ports on the intercooler were a lot larger.

The exhaust was custom made by longlife.

I know Tom @timmus can get hold of solicione pipes for the TDI's that are made to fit.

Really sorry Andrew. But one last thing how much was the exhaust?

A remap will stress clutch, tyres , intercooler and associated piping, probably not much more than that. Most other problems will be down to faulty hardware or the driver! :)
