Extreamly bad starting - Help

I think at this point you should stop, get your car recovered from Audi and don't pay them a penny for anything more.
Get it on a flatbed to A2 Cars in Milton Keynes and let Tony do a proper inspection and diagnosis on it. Then when you know what is actually wrong, you can give Audi both barrels in the complaints department.

That is exactly my next move.... Only problem is they will probably not release the car until paid in full.

Before paying, I would suggest you ask Audi to prove the car will start on the button - if it does, switch it off and try again several minutes later.
Your A2 is fitted with the older metal canister type of fuel filter, which also requires some prudence when replacing. It is very easy to muddle the fuel lines and incorrectly fit them, or, if the ends have not been cleaned perhaps the spring clips on the hose couplings have not engaged properly. This filter is also fitted with an external temperature valve which must be fitted the correct way around. Also, its seal is easy to damage if its not lubricated when its fitted to the filter.

I suspect your issues surround the fuel filter installation - if that's the case, demand Audi remove the new, and refit the old parts at their expense.

Hope this helps, keep us posted.blue skies

Many years ago i took my A2 in to Audi as the fuel pump was still under warranty and i diagnosed it as the fuel pump again via vcds. I mentioned that it needed changing and i had done my own scan, but they proceeded to say it was something else and changed what they thought it was and i paid.

The car still had the same problem...

Took it back and they swapped the pump which i told them in the first place and it cured it.

I had to force them to refund me for their error of fitting a part that did not need changing, so no cost for the repair.

I hope you manage to sort this out and suggest you take it to A2 Cars :)

Just helped a neighbour to replace the injector O.ring seals on his Discovery with a PD type fuel system. Reason was poor cold starting- and it's quite a common problem in Disco land.
I've never heard of it being an issue on A2s but it could easily reduce injector fuel prime as the pressure generated by the tandem pump leaks past the seals.
Maybe worth doing a bit of Googling to see if other VAG diesels with the PD injection system have seen the problem.

Cheers Spike

Well I never...... After some strong words and some time waiting around, Audi UK have contacted me and..... "They've put the car back together, go collect it. Nothing further to pay"

OK, the car still isn't running, but at least now I can deal with someone that will treat me with some respect and no as a dumb money machine. So a result.

Now to find out what IS wrong with it and not deal with pirates.

NEVER, EVER DEAL WITH TEESSIDE AUDI.

That's definitely a "Win", good work.

Sorry your A2 ownership is proving to be a bit of a Saga at the moment. I'm sure you'll get a proper diagnosis and good treatment down in Milton Keynes.

Cheers Dan.... We've had the car 10 years now, it's been all over europe. It's high milage (but it has virturally ever extra you could get) and I am under no disillusion as to what will start to happen in general wear and tear. It's allways had what's necessary, new brakes, suspension, cam belts etc. when it's required.

I just object to being taken for a ride and treated as stupid..... £5600 for a fuelling issue. What planet do they think I come from..... Obviously not this one.

(I'll have calmed down by next week and stop ranting......)
