Fuel gauge issue

Not at all Andy, I appreciate the advice.
I suppose I know really that the best thing to do is to be patient and wait for the correct part. Problem is, it's my partners A2 that needs it and she's quite vocal in wanting it sorted. My A2 has a lovely working fuel gauge! ?
Just struck me, have you joined the Marketplace and have Market in the main Manu bar? If so put an add in Wanted, be proactive, got to keep the girlfriend happy!

I have just asked Clackers if the TDI he has in has the right fuel sender. Another good person is @A2Steve for the 8Z0 919 183F.

With the scarcity on the net for this fuel sender I thought I would try online.teile.com (a big German parts website) and it came up 'no longer available', it was €174+ shipping. Looks like the sender is discontinued so I would definitely ask Crewe Audi what has superseded it and the price, at least you will have another part number to search for, you never know it may be the one discussed earlier!

Tom at Crewe Audi is helpful just send him a PM through the forum.

Thanks Andy, do you know what Tom's name is on here so I can PM? I've had a search but there's a few Toms!

I do have one yes, but due to having 3 TDIs and the fact that they seem difficult to get, I'm holding on to it.
Why don't you swap the one from yours into the wife's car just to see if it is the sender?

Mine (AMF) is a 8Z0 919 183, I have a spare one of those I've tried but it just reads permanently empty. My girlfriend's is the later BHC engine and appears not to be compatible. From what Tom Cunningham has said it's the dashpod that needs to be compatible with the sender, and Audi swapped it round in 2003.

I wonder if the electrical failure of the fuel sender is something that Tom could fix or consider having a go at fixing if you posted it to him, but you would have to ask him first. The idea sprung to sprung to mind when I noted you had a spare (wrong) fuel sender you could use in the interim, just leave the gauge disconnected but I am assuming the fuel lines attachment is compatible but there again it may have an extra for the Webasto feed???

Will be an awful lot cheaper then buying new!
