In search of comfort - Koni FSD

Hi GrayB
As you say, Europerformance were the cheapest but when I got round to buying, their price had increased to £400 incl postage (List is about £455 plus postage)

Cheers Spike
They obviously realised the supply/demand curve was shifting as all us A2 owners started making enquiries!

Oh that s..cks, please don’t blame me for this :( ;)

BTW, also here in Germany the A2 FSD demand rises...

koni sfd best price etc.

Hi,
Who/what is/are Sandtler???. Anyone tried to source koni fsd in Europe etc thinking of trying some on A2 + also looking for some EIBACH springs as recommended by Schnelletrecker for 1.4 petrol 2001 reg they are:fronts #11-15-002-01-va /rears 11-15-002-01 ha, anyone have any ideas, thanks Alan.

I've checked before my installation, the FSD for A2 has the same manufacturer part number as FSD for Polo 9N and one other small car in the VAG family. They are the same. But this is funny, when I checked 2 months ago, it can be had for less than GBP350!

@kkallioj - ei vielä, muutta.... ;)

i'm back in Germany in a couple of weeks. I will try and check though first what vianor (for example) want for fitting. Last time i asked here, they wanted €800 for yellow konis (!) but i didn't get a fitting price.

humps - yes, the 9n, fabia and older ibiza do share some parts... just a shame that FSDs seem to be in demand :(

So if you have changed springs before (you have the knowledge and tools), how long will it take you to change these

My garage charged me 3 hours labour to fit ours.

Done springs on a 2003 corsa and 2002 Astra which took me also about 3 hours in total (per car :D )

But decided not to lower this car, so just a replacement of the shocks for more comfortable ones, and then some 17 inch wheels

Hello humps and GrayB,

would you please measure the distance between the wheel centre and the bottom line of the wheel arches of your FSD upgraded A2s (each wheel)?

Do you think your car’s height has changed after the FSD-upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

I'll do that when I get home. But I can tell you, with my 1.4 Petrol. There is virtually no change in height. It is because I sometimes park next to a high curb near home and when the front door opens wide, it only clears the curb by about 1.5cm. After FSD install, I can see there is no noticable change!

On a slightly different note, to do with the speed humps. For those speed humps near where I live, the best approach is to drive around 30mph! Much more comfortable than 20mph. May be that the speed I need to fully open the second valve in the FSD for those humps ;-)

Although there isn't much you can do with the A2, don't forget 4 wheel alignment after major work like that!
The VAG service manual - ELSA - does not say that the tracking needs to be checked after changing the shocks. It does usually say if it does, e.g. after front antiroll bar change.
