Oil Usage

Hi I have an 1.4 TDI 75 PURCHASED THE CAR IN FEB THIS YEAR WITH 29K OIL LIGHT CAME ON AT 37K PUT IN 0.5L LIGHT WENT OUT I DO 80% MOTORWAY MILES VERY RARELY GO OVER 3K REVS HOPE THIS HELPS

oil light came on when going down the m27 stopped in motorway sevice and added .25l of oil but this didnt do the trick so added another .25l grrr. As the car was going in to the garage for other work today I asked them to check oil levs and they added another 1l so it seems that when the oil light comes on it takes 1.5l to get it back up to the max. Has anybody else had to do this The garage has now agreed to carry out a consumtion test which involves topping up and re-checking levels after 600 miles. think they have sealed the dip stick to prevent any tampering havent checked. take it back when done 600 miles or if the oil lev light comes on. At least they have agreed that any problems found will be covered by my warranty
