I have seen Tom using a cloth loom tape made by Tesa, which I recognised because my Dad used to work for them years ago. They are a German company, part of the Beiersdorf group that used to have a big warehouse in Milton Keynes. I think they moved to Birmingham a while back, the building I remember has some other company in it now.

Tesa are one of the top tape companies along with 3M, unlikely that you'd go wrong with either of them. (I am connected to neither although I had a father in the international fabrics adhesive / release compounds trade 30+ years ago for whom both were clients for various compounds)

Update everyone :)

I changed the high pressure fuel pump today and guess what....She’s fixed YAY:)

She’s running abit lumpy still but a full major service tomorrow and injector cleaner and a good run up the motorway should sort her out :);)

The old pump actually fell to bits:eek:

Are the coil packs the original parts? If so, consider fitting replacements. I have used Bosch coils, the improvement, especially at low revs, was impressive.

Today I gave Audrey a full major service :)

I changed the spark plugs I used Bosch ones as she has Bosch coil packs so I thought they would work best

Then I changed

Air filter

Oil filter

Fuel filter

Pollen filter

I Used 5W/30 Castrol oil

Then after I put some injector cleaner in the tank

After changing the high pressure fuel pump she was happy for 5 minutes but then started running slightly lumpy and the idle jumped up and down abit

BUT After giving her a full major service she’s running sweet as a FSI SHOULD !!!!!!

The filters that the last owner/garage used was WIX Filters and OMG what rubbish!!!!

Please only use Mann filters on your A2’s people especially with FSI’s as there the best filters all round

Hi Louis,

Just seen you're ad for Audrey on Gumtree. You never said you have converted it to electric ?. I think a correction is in order.

Need some help please people Audrey’s intake manifold light is on but I’ve just checked and it’s in one piece nothing broken and seems to work but the EML is still on showing that code !!!!

I’ve cleared the code but keeps coming back

Is there anyway to calibrate the manifold?

How exactly have you checked it Louis? Have you taken the lower inlet off and checked its movement?

Louis, read the P1031 thread, in particular, the most recent posts, since beginning of December. Unless the flaps pass the Set Point check, which is performed each time you start the engine, the error will be triggered. The check sequence is only initiated by turning the ignition on. If you clear the error, and start the engine, without switching the ignition off, the error will NOT be triggered again, until the next time the ignition is switched on, and the engine starts.
The only way to prevent the error is to fix the problem that is preventing the flap spindle moving from fully open to fully closed, (even a couple of degrees short of either will trigger the error). VCDS will show you how far, or if, the flap spindle is moving. Assuming the flap spindle is not moving fully, next task is to find out why. Could be the actuator, the linkage, or the manifold itself. Don't jump in and start taking things apart! You need to know exactly what the problem is, before you can start to fix it!
The P1031 thread has contributions from members who have done just that!

You don't need to take anything apart to check on flap movement. Using VCDS, it can be done from the comfort of the driver's seat. It's all covered in the P1031 thread.

I've a sneaky feeling it's the potentiometer on these if your flaps are working and nothings broken and N316 is doing it's job. My reasoning for this is this period of Audi is well known for it's sub standard sensors and some electrical components microswitches etc. I"d look into the potentiometer as it reads the set point not reached which is the P1031 fault code.
