Rear Axle Bushes

Also in 72mm.
I'm tempted either way.

Having done this job twice now, I think the 69mm have a steel outer and the 72 a resin oute. The 69 just presses in whilst the 72 is bigger and squeezes down to size when pulled in.

Hi Guys, I've been on the arduous journey of getting rear bushes sorted as well. I've eventually sourced some alternative parts and they fit and work!
I've used the bushes from a Skoda Fabia, with reference 1J0501541C. If thats useful to anyone. Cheers
Thank you for the confirmation that 1J0501541C will fit in. I will be swapping my bushes soon and I'm very hesitant to put polyurethane bushes because once the grease which you put in during installation after while make itself out or just slowly dry out they tend to squeak a lot after while and basicaly impossible to regrease unless you take it apart again.

Thanks for that, I shall be dong my replacement beam axle soon. Were the old ones hard to get out, and did you have to get the new ones pressed in?
Are these the style?

It seems they fit many cars in the VW group.

Yes that's correct I just bought 4 for both of my cars after discounts and coupons cost me just 6.70 each.

Remember to buy new bolts. You might not be able to use old ones. Idealy buy the bolts in pair with nuts.

So this is tested and really does fits the A2 rear bush to axle beam?

''Genuine VW original parts.

Part Numbers:

1x N10409903 - M12x1.5x125 Hex Bolt (supersedes N10409902)
1x N10106402 - M12x1.5 Locking Nut

You will receive 1 Bolt and Nut as pictured - this will do one side / bush of the rear axle beam'

Yes it will fit A2s. The only reason why it mark as "NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUR VEHICLE" if you cross check the numbers is the hardness of rubber. They used diferent hardness for polo, Fabia etc and A2s. Actual part is identical. I don't think you will feel any difference in day to day driving. Maybe if you take it to track day and do couple laps around Silverstone you would feel it.

The bolt you've shown is only 125mm long.
I believe the correct bolt is 175mm long.

I've just ordered these from LLLParts.
They're the cheapest I could find. The "handling fee" was a bit of a surprise though, is that the old packing part of "postage and packing"?

The A2 bolt is M12x1.5x175x90 as shown below. It should still be available to order through VAG parts departments because it's also used on some VW commercial vehicles such as LT, Crafter, etc., to fix the rear leaf springs in place.

The Polo bolt is M12x1.5x125 which is 50mm too short, so don't use that.

There was one company making polyurethane bushes stated to be for A2s that had completely the wrong profile. I sent them photos and scale diagrams of my old bushes and they promptly withdrew them. so be careful. The A2 has a large thick shim that itself has a indented centre that the bush has to fit in, otherwise it wont go between the jaws of the U shaped bracket.

Have we confirmed that Polo 9N bushes will fit, but will possibly give a harder ride?
These FEBI ones have the same gaps in the rubber bush part, so should be ad compliant. AND they come with nuts and bolts.
Good price, but they probably will be 125mm bolts.

Just found this also that sounds intriguing.
Are Polo 9N parts that similar/dissimilar?
A new rear axle, with bushes fitted for £140 plus delivery. ( admittedly this one is for a disc brake model).
Makes you wonder if it's worth returning an old one.
