After reading #17, I leave you to judge!

If you really want to discuss the bizarre solar panel replacing alternator idea, you're probably better off going back here:

@Jock & @RAB .. I think you might be taking me slightly seriously ;) ! I don't know if you saw the earlier discussion but I'm almost certain that apart from the solar panel there was a plan to use a low-impedence flux-capacitor to make up the shortfall on power in the dark. Then if the roof is no longer needing to be de-ridged, we could use isopon to plug the spare anchoring points in the floor from the 2-seat rear once the pins are cut off and the 3-seat one is installed. Any thoughts?

I must admit I am now trying to find contexts to use the phrase "with judicious use of a hacksaw" from post 7 in everyday life - for instance with regard to parking spaces or piloting supertankers through Venice. For everything else there's Mastercard...

If you think it's appropriate here to answer questions of safety with supercilious sarcasm, then maybe it's time to move on.

Nobody here has answered questions of safety with supercilious sarcasm. @Robin_Cox 's initial response to Rod davis's initial contribution to this thread was anything but.

As for Rod's earlier thread proposing removing the alternator and fitting a solar panel to replace it, I'm not sure that can be politely viewed as anything other than a source of humour.
