Revo Remap

I'm not looking for the highest figures or best performance, just something to breath a little more life into the car and value for money is always a deciding factor too. I intend to do my homework on this one and apprecite the advice of all A2oc members. Just thought I would start local and work my way from there.

As I say, I'm new to the A2 world and I value the input from all you A2 veterans!

Thanks again.[/QUOTE]

Me to i've had my A2 just over a year now and i tend not ot keep cars very long, but the way things are going (costs) looks like i'm keeping the A2 for awile, so i.ve started getting a few jobs done and a remap is one.
was looking at may be going to stealth but its a long way, but i was may be lokking at getting it done if i go down to ADI in october.

Plus looking at users sigs is an easy way for new blood to see what people have had done ie.. Skipton cruise it was on a few users sigs so then i started looking into it and now i've had it fitted,

So anyway still none the wiser myself who to go to

Cheers Phil

Stealth, if you want a smokey exhaust on full throttle ;)

My personal preference would be MRC Tuning in Banbury, but I'm perfectly happy with my Revo map as I was able to get that done locally with little travel.

@Rspears - whereabouts do you live/work; perhaps we could help focus your search down to some local providers, or alternatively you could go out for some trips in the various tuned A2s here to see the effects for yourself before you purchase? If you're in SW London you'd be more than welcome to pop over and try out my Revo'd car.

dan-b - I live and work in the north east, Co. Durham to be exact. Doesn't seem to be as many reputable re-mappers/tuners nearby as compared to the south. Thanks for your very kind offer of trying out your car, theres not many generous people like you left in the world! but it may be a bit far to travel.

Glad to see it's not just me getting confused with all the options out there!

Yes got a quote MIJ performance in walsall its close to stealth they have quoted me £555 all in for SS Exhaust and remap, it looks like a great price has anybody had any dealings with them, as it looks like most of the remappers are about 150+ miles from me

I've been thinking of getting these to do mine, http://www.supertuning.co.uk/
,
they're based in M'Boro and quoted me £250. They'll come to you, do a test drive with the computer attached and see what figures they cn get. Not got round to it as yet, but planning on doing so in the next month or two.

PS.......Just noticed there's someone 5 minutes drive from me in Darlington who do the Revo re-map.

Great link. Thanks!

I'll check this out, sounds very interesting.

I work in Darlington; probably the same company I've been looking at. Golf Centre?

I wouldn't touch anywhere that hasn't been tested thoroughly by other A2 members. i.e. Stealth Racing for example.

All plug and play chips/remaps i.e. Revo, Superchips, etc are reliant not on the chip/remap (which is good) but on the people who implement them. So just like the amount of stainless exhaust places that pop up to "make" or "Tailor" an exhaust for you, you need to locate a good one with experience of working on your type of car. The actual stainless steel is fine but the technicians vary in quality.

IMO the golden rules for Revo or Stealth custom remap (in fact Stealth also fit Revo if you want).

1: Only use reputable technicians that have worked on A2's for which you have read the feedback/reviews
2: As above:D

Good luck with you choice

I think my little A2 is great and wouldn't entrust it with anyone I hadn't researched first. I work in the motor trade and understand all-too-well that the technician is the key to any good repair/modification. I'm in no hurry and will do my homework thoroughly.

Thanks :)

Hi there
I have a Revo/AmD remap

The remap makes the diesel much more willing and responsive, and economy-wise I'm getting in the high 60s at the moment, so it's not harmed me there it would seem (re-maps often improve economy in fact).

Go for it, that's what I'd say.
The pedal on the right hand side makes the car go faster
have you adjusted the way you drive since you had the re-map
if your driving at the newly attainable speed then
you cant possibly be still getting 60+ miles to the gallon ....

Shame you never had the rolling road as where itching to know what they did
to your car ......LOL !!! :p

Hey my Brand New Diesel Iveco van that i just got has done 23 Miles
and smokes when i put my foot down hard to the floor thats a bit worrying Lol !!!!

@Wooly - I mapped my car in the first week of ownership, so I had so little previous experience of driving it un-mapped, I can't really compare, I just knew it needed mapping (in fact I bought it fully intending to map as soon as possible). As to my driving style, well, I don't like to hang about, but neither do I drive stupidly for the road conditions. The car gets red-lined regularly though when I'm pushing on, but all cars need to be red-lined fairly regularly once warm, it blows out the cobwebs ;)

I forgot to note down my mileage and number of litres bought at the last refuel (this morning, at Sainsburys with my 5p off voucher), so can't say what I'm at as of today, but certainly I was playing in the 60s mpg-wise up 'till now.

I used to get 25mpg out of my A4 V6 quattro, 20mpg out of my S2 quattro, and 30mpg out of my 80Sport - again I drove most of those fairly similarly (apart from the S2, which just was such fun you couldn't help but mash it!).

Shame you never had the rolling road as where itching to know what they did
to your car ......LOL !!! :p

Maybe we should have a rolling-road session at some point, just so we can put some figures on it, probably find out they didn't do anything at all

trying to keep track

Hello! First post.

I've been trying to keep track of the whole remapping/chipping issue and last time i checked it looked like Stealth was the way to go.

Now Revo are the best alround bet and Stealth is very unstealthy (smokey). I was sold on the whole custom remap idea, but now I don't know.

Can you guys tell me what sort of cost I am looking at to get this done in October, and what is the best bet (no easy question I know).

I am based in Salisbury but obviously will travel to get it all done.

Any help will be great thanks!

Looking to Revo my A2

Hi,

I think this is my first post so best introduce myself first. I'm Matt and I got my first A2 in November 2008. Had a lotus for 2 years and wanted a little more comfort and reliability.

After having my A2 for a few months now i've decided I will deffinately cough up the dosh and get a quality re-map. I'm not expecting huge gains but I can feel the car wants to give me more (plus i want more grunt too). I'm more interested in getting more torque for motorway or slightly hilly driving.

So I live in West Yorkshire so the nearer the better.

I've decided I deffinately want a Revo Remap as i've read lots of posts and even spoken to people and Revo sounds like my cup of tea.

Can anyone suggest a good place to get my A2 re-mapped? I'm willing to travel up to 200 miles for really good quality service and peace of mind, cost isn't an issue either. I'd just like a little more power and torque so I can carry on enjoying the little A2.

Hi scootmat, welcome to the A2oc
Stealth Racing, near Birmingham is the most popular place to go for remaps. You get a before and after rolling road check and the mapping is usually fine tuned to your particular car during the dyno runs. The 75hp TDi typically gives up to 110bhp.

Revo are a well respected tuner (as testified by a couple of club members) but i suspect most of their dealers don't do the rolling road checks and rarely work on A2's

Cost wise, Stealth normally do a special deal for A2oc members so even with the rolling road checks their price could be less than Revo

Cheers Spike

Booked in

Many thanks!

I've got her booked in with Stealth for the rolling road remap. Was a very good price and although it's a fair distance away from where I live (Leeds), I can get around 70mpg anyway so it costs hardly anything in fuel.

Looking forward to the transformation.

Matt

Just booked my A2 in with Pragmatik ICT in Suffolk, they seemed a lot friendly than Mega4 when I rang them. No rolling road but Mega4 didn't have one either. Friday 23rd it goes in, very exciting lol :D
