Seat Leon Ecomotiv

So it would seem the HonestJohn "real world MPG" website reckons the 1.6TDi Ecomotiv only manages 51MPG in the hands of normal people?

Are there ANY recent cars out there (that I'd want to drive!) that actually offer a genuine MPG gain over what we're used to with our 10-15year old A2s?

Check this out:

That's not real world fuelly type results, admittedly.

P.S.

Does anyone have experience of the Nissan Note diesel or the new Renault Clio DCi 1.5 litres?

I've heard from the bro' in law a Nissan note a friend of his has can easily achieve 80+ mpg, he's been in his friend'a and seen it for himself, and the phase 2 DCi Clios were always good for mpg, and that article above suggests the current generation have gotten better...

I doubt a similar website would give the sort of mpg for an A2 that we are mostly used to. The majority of A2 drivers on this forum know how to get the best out the cars, the majority of non enthusiast owners may not so i would not rule out getting 60mpg form the ecomotive. Autocar were very impressed with their current generation Leon for mpg.

I've got the same engine in my company Jetta

I average 50 to 56 mpg

I'm not afraid of using my right foot though, you kind of have to drive the 1.6 hard to get anywhere. I still love the way the Jetta drives though, I'm even considering buying it from the lease company at the end of lease
