Stuttering loss of power 1.4 TDi turbo ?

It goes on chassis numbers - if yours starts WAUZZZ8Z*2..... then it;s the earier one, or if it starts WAUZZZ8Z*3.... then it's the later one.

There is a crossover though, so it's probably best to whip off the 10mm speed nuts on the dimpled aluminium cover and see what the housing looks like.

If it is as per my photos in the 'How To...' guide, then it's the later type.

Cheers,

Mike

run into a little problem - not sure which fuel filter i need for my 1.4 Tdi 53 reg? (march 2003) I am assuming it is the later fuel filter as i can see there is two types? my engine numer starts with AMF 239... but that egine code is listed for both fuel filters on http://vagparts.co.uk/ ??? is there a way to make sure without looking at the actual filter?

This is an extract from a previous thread (the one no-one else can read) ..........
If your Chassis number is 8Z03 or above, you only need to replace the filter, and not the complete housing. And this guide is for 8Z03 onwards only models.
I'd still recommend you give VagParts your chassis number and ask them to confirm which fuel filter you need

Cheers Spike

a "36 mm socket" - unless you happen to have one, this will cost a lot. Mine was well over £30 from Brown Brothers, the only source I could locate. Upside is, I can now do oil filter changes forever - no probs.

Happy to do foc for anyone in N. Lincs area who does not have the 36 mm gizmo.
I bought a 36 mm socket (1/2 inch drive) from Stockport Halfords for a few pounds. It is fine. It is one of their range of impact sockets
