The future of my parts service

My car wouldn't be running half as well nor be anywhere near as sorted without your help and brilliant parts supply. Many thanks.

Sounds like the decision has been made after long hard thinking and I do respect that but I have to ask the question that burning inside of me: Could you not still pick up the odd A2 along the way in you new MGF venture? a sort of overlap or transition period? the reason for this question is I wouldn't want to bid against you on a breaker in the future, I would rather let you have it and buy the parts from you.

Morning all
It is with regret that I’m having to inform you that I will hanging up my gloves on A2 breaking.

For the last 6 months at least, the supply of viable cars for breaking has been dwindling dramatically. I have now been searching for a breaker for 2 months solid with no luck. Unfortunately, I am reliant on the income from the business and so I will have to look to other ventures going forward.

I’ve really enjoyed providing this service to you all for so many years and have met many great people and helped them achieve their desired spec for their A2’s.

The A2 is still my car of choice and my little 90 is still going to be my daily driver, so I won’t be leaving the club. I’ve also built up a vast knowledge of A2 part removal which I’ll always share as much as I can to help those who need it.
So, for now at least, once the last items have sold via my current thread
https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/a2steve%E2%80%99s-part-supply.41500/ there will be no more.

I hope that there will be others who can continue to supply parts to the club with the same ethos of value to members.

Best wishes
Steve
Legend Steve....legend. just think of the cars you have saved and improved on. All the best for the new venture

Dear Steve, I'm really sorry to hear that. You helped members and A2 owners as far as Italy! (me, for example). Thank you again for your help.

All the best

Stefano

A BIG thank you for your excellent service over the years.
Again sorry to hear that you will no longer be my 'one stop shop', but as said above, everyone seems to be holding onto their A2's.
With limited A2's being sold and all the good reviews on A2's being a future classic, i can totally understand the lack of cheap breakers.
Steve

This really is a sad day and on the 3 year anniversary of me first owning an A2. (now got 3). Fully understand though and appreciate the few parts and advice I've had from you.
We used to do it for small fiat's, cinquecento, seicento panda and punto, before anyone says it yes we had a constant supply of cars and customers as fiat's always break down apparently.
Good luck with your new venture.

Sad day indeed. Its no understatement that Steve transformed the market for the supply of parts for the A2. When he first started a few eyebrows were raised at the competitive pricing. The contribution to keeping A2s running well and looking their best at affordable prices has been remarkable and a real benefit for club members.
In addition a good few cars have been saved from the scrappy in Steve's hands whilst the cars broken up for parts has always been done sympathetically towards club values of keeping viable cars on the road.

Sorry again its come to this buddy and sincere gratitude for a brilliant service to the forum.

Good luck with the MGFs. You'll find some odd looking stuff commonly known as rust which you won't be used to with A2s???

Hi Steve,
I’m really sorry to hear this news having been a regular customer over the 4 years of my ownership & really appreciate your services,
I wish you the best of luck with future ventures.

There’s a Big MGF garage on the A1 near me https://www.trophycars.co.uk/seems to have a very big stock.
Thanks
Keith

I've noticed them, don't seem to sell many just acquire more, I think they are also heading towards MX5's as well now.

Must be doing alright as it’s been trading the 3 1/2 years we’ve been driving past , always had other odd cars to the side.

Well done Steve for being a well-grounded man with a big A2 heart, helping all of us owners keep our dinky aluminium steeds on the road with sage advice & astonishingly keen parts prices and lest we forget you've done a sterling job of organising a nice Welsh tour or two as well - you're an asset to the forum dude ??‍??

Pretty sure it'll be hard for you not to hang around on the forum every day for your daily A2 fix!

All the best in the new venture ?

I’m feeling quite emotional reading these messages. I’ve worked hard for a number of years to achieve just this sort of happiness from friends/customers so it’s quite hard to give that up. If I could continue to do so I certainly would because despite it being hard work I do actually enjoy helping people out with their parts needs.

I fear that the new venture will be little more than a faceless eBay shop selling parts for a car that I am not all that passionate about; but unfortunately as has been mentioned above , A2’s in the breaker category are just not readily available anymore.

I’ve today purchased 2 MGF’s and so these will keep me busy into the new year.

Hopefully by then things may have changed in A2 supply, but I fear that the current position may be indicative of the future.

This however does give me some time to do a few little jobs on my 90 :)

A2Steve - no parts, but still an A2 owner and plenty of passion for the model ?

I echo what everyone else had said Steve, you are a gent and the saviour of many of my A2's. A sad sad day, but appreciate you had to make the decision at some point. If ever there was a mini series to be made about the A2 and it's resurgence it should include you as the master sleuth behind the A2OC parts bin. Can't thank you enough!

Steve, you sold us our first OSS and started a new venture for Adam. I’ve been to your place and you’ve been to mine and I remember you as a good bloke who wants to help others (although I can’t understand a bloody word you say!), hopefully we’ve helped you too.
Sad to say that people like you, Steve, are few and far between. Good luck with the MGF

Ian & Adam

Perhaps Adam could take over the reigns?

I'm new to A2 ownership but just over the last few months your help and parts have been invaluable. Thankyou very much and I hope the MGFs work out for you.
