Today I.....

Yesterday morning as I started up I discovered a crack in the windscreen on Pure :( From an old stonechip right in the very bottom corner on the driver's side, it's now just edging into the bottom of the wiper arc. I'm sure I'd have noticed if it was there the previous evening! Maybe it was just starting and spread with the temperature change overnight. I can get that sorted before Scotland, but it's not going to happen before Stanford Hall.

Today my mechanic fitted to Boris a new Bosch knock sensor and a new connector and he also reset the throttle body so now hopefully the EML says off :)

Boatwaxed after winterseason and brakeswitch:

Today i fitted a new battery .... Had a week holiday and for the first time ever the battery was flat and the car would not turn over when I got back.
Saw the Fsi had a much bigger 096 battery and went one size bigger again with a 110 with extra CCA , slightly different size but fitted perfectly, super cheap at £66.99 delivered on ebay.
The old Varta battery looked in great new look condition , amazed to find 09/03 on the battery terminal .... does this mean it was made in Sep 2003 ? Wow 16 years old and provided the car was in use every other day it would have gone marching on ...

Today I washed and polished Pure (and had to dry the paintwork off several times inbetween showers :() ready for Stanford Hall tomorrow. Also did the insides of the windows. Then I fitted my rear cupholder which I'd removed from my Crystal Blue car. Finally I replaced the worn stained floormats with decent ones I recently bought, while going over with the inside with the vacuum.

So Pure is now pretty much in its final state of trim and will be going to Scotland like that. The only things still left are a genuine set of map discs for the RNS-E - it won't read the copies it came with - so that it will upgrade the firmware to enable the AUX-in, and some more SD cards as a backup in case it won't read genuine DVDs either, or for when my MP3 player runs out of charge. Both of these are on the way from eBay.

I think the code is week number / year, so probably March 2003

Today I replaced the timing belt, including tensioner roller and waterpump, on my recently purchased 2003 AMF. Still have to get used to the thing (powerwise) after my Timmus tuned ATL......

Sorted the fuel sender so now the gauge works properly rather than reading full, serviced the engine with new oil, filters and fluids
And yesterday replace the crank sensor for a new oem part

So today I tried to sort out the shed of dread ...

Following the rebuild of Basil late last year , plus the accident damage to project shed , my workshop has turned in to @sciroccorrado and @Clackers remote parts stores dumps , so efforts have been taken to refresh the bank account and clear space ..... check the market place for a couple of items , eBay for other stuff ... I don’t have a clue to what @A2Steve shed is like , but I feel his familys pain when trying to find basic garden tools ....

But , plans are afoot to fill this space .... new shocks , wishbones ,lowering springs , brake hoses ,bump stops , 312 mm TT disc pads and callipers, plus a H and R anti roll bar kit are stacked up ready for Basils new suspension and brakes , plus Bose upgrade package ready for @timmus later in year , thanks to this owners group for key information, and parts numbers , without your support I would be driving a very boring , sensible, and soulless supermarket type shopping trolley....

Found a set of front mud flaps in a corner of the shed , and fog lights so weather permitting those are getting fitted to project shed , and Basil

Following extended conversation with offspring number 3 , project shed is acting as uni transport for next 3 years , so this car , which was a shed for off spring number 2 ( whom smashed it to bits ) is getting a new title ... “ Egg “ we not sure of the sex of Egg at this time due to LBT gender neutrality stuff, so we are waiting for further guidance from offspring number 3

Did managed to get to a classic car event round the corner , and as expected most of them was rusty , with very boring owners .......

Long live the A2! And the groups which support them !

Today well it actually turned into night due to MotoGP being on today, I managed to build a loom and get my front fog lights working ? But can confirm not all A2's are pre wired for fog lights at the bottom of the passenger A pillar. Paul aka Depronman had the same problem with his 51 plate Tdi 5 seater with OSS and no climate control, which is the same spec as my car and right enough there was no power at the A pillar.

These spec A2's have to be wired direct to the switch. Luckily I read Paul's post before I started and built the loom long enough to reach the switch. All in all not a bad job to do really, just need to do the wifey's one next.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Changed the temp sensor and camshaft sensor as they were both shot, car then wouldn’t start at all so unplugged new cam sensor and it started determining that it was a faulty new sensor ??‍♂️ I then refitted the original sensor and it fired up straight away ??‍♂️?
