Today I.....

Today I just took a few quick pics of the green A2. Still a brilliant little car and surprising how capable it is as highway muncher. It doesn't show its mileage and feels springy as ever.

The only issue I'm experiencing is some neck and back pain on longer journeys, despite the posh leather. It feels I just can't get the seat low enough, but that might just be due to my posture. Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't want to sell it (it drives spot on and that wouldn't make much sense after the recent belt change and tyres), but these pains are getting a bit nerving, especially since I'm mostly using it for long journeys. I'm not listing it anywhere, but should a fellow A2oc'er be interested, you can always drop me a message..
do you have cruise control ? I find the A2 makes my right foot ache if I'm constantly pressing the throttle pedal, my Focus CC doesn't nor does my wife's DS3, so must be the positioning of the A2 throttle pedal
However use of CC means I rarely have to use the throttle pedal for long periods of time

I agree with Steve, the sports seats are more comfortable, adjustable lumber support also helps
There are other seat choices that fir the A2 other than the correct seats, TT Mk1 seat and I believe A3 seats

Definitely sports seats with electric lumbar, and cruise control. I can go from central London to Depronman's in St Anne's which is approximately 245 miles without a stop, then return home in the same day with no problems at all.

Today I bought a 325k mile a2 I will be collecting it tomorrow.... wonder what I’ve let myself in for

Absolutely no issues if it’s been serviced regularly
I sold one at 282,500 miles with no engine work other than water pumps and timing belts/tensioner
Ran like a sewing machine and still returned over 60mpg

I think it’s been looked after the MOTs since 2006 have looked clean every year. Also has a working OSS and PDC

OK few hours late but dropped the old FSI engine out of the car and fitted the replacement BCB golf based engine.............saved quite a bit of dismantling dropping it into my pit, helps to have a forklift truck to hand..........hopefully few spare hours to refit parts and then sorting out ecu dash coding cruise etc etc.......

You need a set of sport seats for it, they adjust lower and are far more comfortable.

Thanks for all the input re sport seats guys. I understand (cloth) sport seats come in black, blue and light grey, right? Is this light grey the same color as platinum seats? On pictures the sport seats seem a tad lighter. I'm afraid it all would look a bit silly with door cards and center console in platinum.

Platinum is often described as light grey, maybe this will help...

Expect sports seats come in more colours than you think, I will check later and report back if I find anything comprehensive.

So today I

Just about completed all the planing for “ basils “‘unexpected trip to WOM Autos

Basil , went on a unplanned self driving session down the drive , and smashed the rear of the wife’s car to bits ...

I can only think the hand brake was not fully on , and then cooled off , after the car had a spirited drive home on a very warm day B145EFDE-1413-47CF-BCD1-760F0EDC1712.jpeg394FFAD2-8400-4D49-8ECB-91C45FE2B71E.jpeg22DFD106-1BE4-47BF-8F97-B9AD644240C1.pngF08D5CB8-B16C-4FBD-8539-288786F3856C.jpeg49D85E4A-56D9-42E4-B07B-DFB9967372E5.jpeg23784481-6CE2-4281-9574-A6419D261A47.jpeg

The insurance claim , via agreed value has paid out , in full after a bit of a fight ...

Parts required are huge , new slam panel , bonnet bumper , crash bar , head lamps , rad , intercooler , condenser, etc , but are now all on place ready for the repairs

I can only just begin to explain how gutted I was when inspected the damage , and had to explain to the wife why her car was in a million bits

On the plus side , the lads at WOM , are going to do a fair amount of planned maintenance works , and upgrades to the suspension and brakes

So , onwards on upwards B145EFDE-1413-47CF-BCD1-760F0EDC1712.jpeg

Listened to a noisy wheel bearing whilst driving! Needs to get a lot worse before I can identify the culprit N/S front is the most likely culprit!

Did the thermostat and temp sensor in the 327k moon car, now stays at 90c also freed the blower motor so also have fresh air... that smells like wd40

Try a little 3in1 as it doesn’t dry & become sticky better long term lubricant, they also do a spray containing ptfe
