Today I.....

Devastating discovery of missing jacking point cover this morning...I am very close to retracing my 15 mile journey home yesterday!
My moodiness isn’t been helped by the fact that no one else thinks this is a problem!! ?

Rob,

If you can get the part number of the corner you’re missing I might have a spare.

I have 2 the same here and need to go to @Sarge to complete my set but happy to pass on the ‘spare’ one I have. It’s original but cannot remember which corner it is from. Part number will answer this.

Hopefully I can help you out.

Kind regards,

Tom

Brilliant work @simufly ?

This is very strong motivation for the rest of us.... refurbish after 20 years, next time will probably be 2050 or later.... ;)??

Dont underestimate the time and effort that needs to go into an axle change.

Depronman helped replace mine last year during the lull in lockdown last summer - I bought a decent FSi axle and fitted new Axle bushes, stubs, brake lines and you have the issue with axle bracket alignment to be aware of. The axle was also refurbed via powdercoat (after sand blasting).

I could have saved money by not replacing the stubs but bought in case - you dont really know the state of these things sometimes until the axle comes off.

You can do it without help but it certainly helps to have someone to lift the axle in and out of position.

By the end of the exercise I was likely 500 quid worse off but my old axle was suffering badly with rust. It would have lasted a lot longer but decided to deal with it to future proof the car....and the new axle bushes improved the handling / ride quality of the car.

What sort of price do the leather seats command? I quite fancy a set.
Hi Nick, Steve has black leather seats (4 seater) for sale for £400 collected. They are in the Marketplace on here in the parts section. I don't know if you've paid £2 to gain access to the marketplace but if you haven't, it's worth doing. Regards Jake

I’ve just had a look and can’t find these?

Today I got limp mode and a P1557 Charge pressure control: Control limit exceeded on my 1.4 tdi. Looks like I am going to be learning about how to take the bumper and intercooler off at some point in the near future.

Is yours a 75 or 90? Was you giving it a good work out when it happened?

It is a 75, I wasn't really working it that hard was going up a mild incline on cruise control at motorway speed when it happened. Just noticed the car slowing to 65 rather than the way it normally sails up there without loosing speed.

May simply be a vacuum hose at the back of engine above driveshaft has popped off green and blue plastic i think to small rubber pipe. happened to me was a fiddle to reconnect and if it happens again i will lengthen at the top of the engine and make life easier underneath
