Today I.....

Finally my A2 should get today timing belt service done after 13 years if I recall.
Can’t wait to rev it again to red line :).

Just attended a fab morning event cars n coffee (porsche meet) at baffle haus(south wales). Great to see some really nice examples even a rare white gt3rs worth £130k plus was there. Very nice place to have a car meet and chat.

Today I.. got my tires changed at a professional garage - while the experience was less than pleasant with some damage done to the right hand side plastic sideskirt , at least the new tires feel a bit less like they're made of wood.

Changed were old Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2s (5-6mm of tread left after 7 years/30000 miles) for the new Asymmetric 6s with at least one pleasant surprise - they came pre-painted for A2 Colour Storms 🤡

If they've damaged the side skirt, they were not too professional unfortunately, they should compensate you for sure.
My A2 has a small similar damage as well from one of the previous ownerships, to avoid any further damage, any time the car needs to be lifted, I do tell them and show this picture, about the correct jacking points. Feel free to download it.

Today I drove to the other side of Leicestershire to pick up two reclining chairs.

"You wont get those in there..."

Didn't even have to move the front seats forward!

Indeed.
After some discussion, the best they would offer was to plastic-weld the 6cm crack back together at a different time as it "wasn't big enough to have an impact on anything".
I wasn't too keen on arguing with the guy for another half an hour and with no evidence to prove that the crack hadn't been there before.. what can you do..

I'd asked the mechanic beforehand if he'd lifted an A2 before and he said yes, so I just told them to be careful anyways and don't jack it on the plastic. I should think I looked rather unimpressed when I heard the crack.

Interestingly, I thought the point to lift it by at the front was the 2 "seam" bits just outside the red marked area instead of the round bits. Pretty sure my usual garage also lifts it by that seam while managing not to damage anything.

The round bits are the safest points, but other can be used as well.
Next time done even ask, just say the A2 has special jacking point and show them the picture. Hopefully they'll fix what they caused.

Today was a nice simple rear brake and suspension refresh with a 17 year old car that's lived all it's days in Scotland...
So the grinder was out to get the caliper carrier chopped. If only the new carrier had been supplied with a new mounting bolt.

They've all seen some action

It took off the rear exhaust box off to finally sort out the rattling heat shields. I folded new aluminium around the damaged areas and pop riveted them in place, i then made new stronger bracelets , and drilled out what was left of the corroded studs, fitted m6 rivnits and put it all back together again. An absolute pig of a job that took all afternoon. It looks like every garage broke another bit and added another zip tie!

Hi guys, is there any other way to pay the market entry fee, than PayPal? I've removed all my details from there, don't really wanna add them again. Cheers
