HiHi,
I do believe several of you have a TT MK1 in addition to your A2s.
So thinking of a TT MK1 roadster……. so if you do….. can I pick your brain?
Cheers
Paul
Some say TT's aren't sport cars, but I just don't get it. How a 225hp car that does 0-60mph around 7 seconds, isn't a sport car?
I guess that makes my Macan SUV a sports car! 0-60 in 5 seconds. Some say TT's aren't sport cars, but I just don't get it. How a 225hp car that does 0-60mph around 7 seconds, isn't a sport car?
If that weren't a suv chassis, but a sedan, so lighter with even faster acceleration, that I reckon that engine power would be closer to supercar performance than sport car's.I guess that makes my Macan SUV a sports car! 0-60 in 5 seconds.

But what do you call the Tesla very fast but especially ugly and never worth £60k, each to their own. I still like the Mk 1 TTIf that weren't a suv chassis, but a sedan, so lighter with even faster acceleration, that I reckon that engine power would be closer to supercar performance than sport car's.
That was sort of my point. Its not just about 0-60 time.If that weren't a suv chassis, but a sedan, so lighter with even faster acceleration, that I reckon that engine power would be closer to supercar performance than sport car's.
Me too.But what do you call the Tesla very fast but especially ugly and never worth £60k, each to their own. I still like the Mk 1 TT
The car looks stunning, a credit to you SirI suggest that you don’t rule out the V6 - Euro 4 engine, wonderful engine/exhaust note and the subtle differences in styling really improve the look in my view. Also the V6s tend to come better spec’d and the VR6 engine is absolutely bullet proof. It’s also very significantly underpriced at the moment - the Mk4 VR6 golfs which share the platform with the TTV6, are almost impossible to find in good condition for sub 10k and everything points towards TTV6 prices catching up soon when there are less on the road - it handles better than the Golf and is a design icon. My V6 with the manual gearbox is a joy to drive - but you have to consider it as a fast comfy cruiser rather than a track car.

I wrote a post a few years ago in response to another question. See here:
Audi TT prospective owner
Looking for a car for Mrs O, thinking out loud around a TT convertable. Sure there are some owners on here, what should I be looking for? Fancy a V6 but suspect reliability may be an issue. 1.8 I suspect would be more practicle? Items to avoid? Quattro - yes/no ? Any input, thoughts...www.a2oc.net
It looks quite stock but I have uprated brakes (pads), Milltek high flow cat and exhaust, 280+BHP tune, front LSD and Haldex remap.
The Haldex remap is interesting as it engages the rear drive on the application of power rather than on loss of grip. That means you can use the engine power to steer the car round a bend (rather than just getting lots of understeer).
Note in response to an above question, my front wings and bonnet are aluminium and so don't rust. Perhaps that was only on certain models. Sadly the sills aren't and are prone to stone chips, but they are non-structural at least!
What a stunning colour…… wonder if that colour would suit one of my blue stormsView attachment 94400
I had this for a short while. 225 in nogaro blue. Is it fun? Well depends on your experience and previous cars you’ve had really. I found it a touch boring on limit, but otherwise enjoyable.
Where these really shine is their day to day usability. And the fact parts are super easy to find. It’s got all the best bits of the A3/MK4 platform.
It obviously has usual Audi foibles of this era, as well as general 1.8T/ Haldex issues to watch out for.
But overall a very nice package. It even feels quite special still, even after all these years.
Is that a petrol or diesel?I find BHP is more relative to your previous cars and experience, when I first got my A2 to 120BHP it felt insane, now ive adapted to it I can see why peopple keep hunting for more. I just love the nimble spritely nature and handling of the A2 and that wins over pure power for me. After all how fast do you want to go on british roads?!
Its a Diesel atl sport engineIs that a petrol or diesel?
They are relatively quick but performance alone doesn't mean it's a sports car. Chassis/steering is not very involving or fun . That's what makes a proper sports car . Don't get me wrong I enjoy my MK1 TT but it's never a car I get in just to go a drive for fun . I had a MK1 Leon cupra r many years ago . Same 225bam engine and based on the same floorpan as the TT . It was far more fun and adjustable handling than the TT.Some say TT's aren't sport cars, but I just don't get it. How a 225hp car that does 0-60mph around 7 seconds, isn't a sport car?
