If you're unhappy, shouldn't you be contacting an administrator rather than sounding off here?Did he jump.....or was he pushed...……….LOL LOL
I'm not unhappy by any stretch...…….I'm just nosey and would like to know what's happened ………..that's why I added LOL...…....If you're unhappy, shouldn't you be contacting an administrator rather than sounding off here?
The poster in question might have had second thoughts of course. Hopefully they've taken the matter up directly with Louis.
The plot thickens...…………….....….unlike my gravyI believe it wasn’t a single post but 2 from 2 different members?

We have an agreement within the admin team on A2oc that any post or thread viewed as contentious can be moderated by any member of the team pending discussion and agreement. This policy has served us well over the years and I /we hope gives the forum an atmosphere of freedom and friendship. We rarely intervene in discussions. When we do it's for a valid reason. So comments making allegations of 'nanny state' are as disappointing as they are unwelcome to a small group of dedicated volunteers.
The post in contention has been restored to the forum. Singular post.
We urge members to observe our forum rules of avoiding public argument. We also wholly acknowledge the minefield of a marketplace which can result in disputes between members. It's inevitable. Our fraternal rules are inteneded to minimise the likelihood of dispute.
We shall investigate the complaints raised as far as it is our place to do so.
Meanwhile Merry Christmas and best wishes to you and your lovely wee motors.
M
Valid point gratefully recievedMaybe a note when this happens as otherwise they just disappear and makes the conversation disjointed and confusing

In the season's spirit of "good will to all men" (and boys), couldn't everyone just leave this thread to drift off into obscurity?
Anyway:
Season's Greetings to all A2OC members, and special thanks to the volunteers who make it work for the rest of us ???
Regards Mac.
I paid £700. It was my post which was removed pending the moderators decision. my gripe is with avoidable surprises and things not being as I understood. I don't want to get into to an argument with the moderators so I'll shut up for now.Wasn’t Ruby sold for around £750? An absolute banger price.
I have bought a car and on the drive home it has blown the gearbox ECU. No way anyone could have known and not the seller’s fault at all. The price was low and I took my chances.
I think we all approve of the spirit Louis’ idea to fix up and sell on cars but... he is a very young man and not a mechanic. Steve struggled with this same issue of things going wrong after a sale.
If you buy a car for very little money from someone who believes, in good faith and to the best of their experience, that it is a ‘good un’ then I think you maybe need to expect some potential issues. If unhappy, take it up with the seller and sort it out. If you exhaust that route then feel free to raise your issues on the forum and discuss.

I understand your frustrations, but the moderators are here to help you as much as they are here to preserve the friendliness of the public forum. Keeping private disputes private is what they're trying to do.I paid £700. likewise . I am OK waiting for the moderators to suggest a course of action. I posted something judged too personal for a public forum. I recognise this. I wasn't trying to be nasty or vindictive. I have a few grumbles and some advice. Avoidable is what this situation was.I understand your frustrations, but the moderators are here to help you as much as they are here to preserve the friendliness of the public forum. As I'm sure you're aware, it is with Louis that you need to be in discussions. If you feel they're not constructive, I can imagine that one of the moderators will give of their time and attempt to understand all perspectives and ...well... act as a moderator. Perhaps you'd like to start a group conversation with Louis and one or more of the moderators. They'll be no favouritism.
All the best. I hope a mutually satisfactory outcome can be found for all.
Tom
I don't imagine anyone thinks this. The A2 attracts good people.I wasn't trying to be nasty or vindictive.
A2OC has, on many occasions, won awards and accolades for its inclusive, polite, familial atmosphere, as well as its content. Nobody wishes to sensor anyone, impose draconian rules or deny adults their nuanced judgement, but preserving the kindly atmosphere of A2OC is a high priority. Yes, sometimes it means that posts (perhaps only temporarily) disappear from public view, and that leaves the rest of us guessing what's going on, but I trust that things are appropriately handled behind the scenes by a diverse bunch of fair and principled volunteers.
In over ten years of A2OC membership, I've seen this matter come up time and time again. The marketplace is a necessary part of this car club, and nobody wishes to see it disappear, but it is also the greatest source of inter-member conflict and the greatest drain on moderator time. I've done stints as a moderator and have had many face-to-face group chats and thread discussions about this topic. Numerous models for the marketplace have been tried during my time here. Unfortunately, working within a surprisingly complex set of confines that aren't well understood by a majority of the membership, there is no single solution that suits everyone. The current model works better than any others I've known here. For all that I am no longer a moderator, and indeed I barely use the marketplace as a buyer or seller, my experience would make me highly reluctant to reopen this topic.
Cheers,
Tom
My Nanny State comments were aimed at the fact the original post was removed by admins (and could have possibly been seen as supporting Louis rather than Hesketh), not at the person who posted it...…………….Excellent points well said there Tom.
To be honest ANY marketplace is a minefield of widely differing opinions. My personal opinion on this point is that both the Mods were correct in looking at the post in the first place, and for restoring it after discussion. I am no more party to the nature of these discussions than any other normal member.
The poster of the comment was also perfectly within their rights to post the comment, (so I think the Nanny State comments were unjustified) however they should also understand, as always, "Buyer Beware" should be utmost in the minds of anybody new to a brand/model. At the end of the day Louis is a salesman (like myself) and feedback is important, especially when presented in a factually appropriate format, which I believe the poster did.
Ultimately the market will decide if Louis' venture is successful or not. I wish him well.
