A2 Footrest TT Style Slot Infills

To all who are interested in the infills.
Fitting instructions
The fitting is as described by Tom earlier in this thread in post 4
The foot rest will arrive from Tom with the 3M tape applied (ASSUMING YOU ASKED FOR THE TAPE)
Place the foot rest on a flat surface, tape down
trial fit the infills but DO NOT push them down onto the tape
If the infill is for any reason tight it can be easily sanded on the sides to remove the high spot
using some thin super glue (tool station sell it very cheaply) and a cocktail stick apply the super glue to the inside of the slot
Push that infill into place onto the tape
Repeat for the remaining 11 infills
Allow to dry for a few hours before fitting to your A2

Top tip, lightly sand and then clean the plastic foot rest in the car before sticking the foot rest into place. Try to leave the footrest without using it for 24 hours to allow the 3M tape to fully cure, as it only gains full strength over 24 hours

Ordering Infills
In line with Tom, the cut off date for ordering infills and having them delivered to Tom is the 6th Oct, after thr 6th Oct you can still order infills but they will be delivered to you directly and hence will incure the postage cost of £1 for a single set or £1.50 to two sets

I will get them printed as quickly as possible, but at around 20 mins per set its going to take a few nights to run of what is ordered so far. In order to not hold up Tom posting out the foot rests I will send the batch of infills to Tom first, and then work through everyone elses orders in the running order that they have arrived in paypal

Lastly, I am not spending time cross referencing paypal to A2OC threads to establish postal details, so if you are having your infills delivered to your home address and have not included your name and address in the paypal note then please put through a further paypal for £0.01 with you name and address in the paypal note.

Morning Paul,

Thanks for jumping in. I'm sure there was an easier way of doing this but I was suddenly inundated with requests for these infills and had money arriving in my PayPal account for something I wasn't offering, I also didn't know where most of the requested infills needed to be sent to, either direct to the member or to me for adding to footrest packages. As I was also out and about I thought I'd sit down in a Costa for a coffee to see how I could get things separated quickly before I lost track of what was going to who and how etcetera.

The amount of traffic you received was due to the excellent item you have to offer, I too was amazed how quickly the requests came in.

The spreadsheet will be with you shortly sir.

You are more than welcome to remove this thread once you have all the details I require by Tuesday to ensure I don't send out footrests with our infills.

Kind regards,

Tom

last list update from me before Paul takes over the proceedings.

The list has now been emailed to Paul and will be controlled by him until he deems it no longer necessary to maintain.

Thank you for all you interest in both products available here, they will compliment each other beautifully and look forward to receiving mine.

Kind regards,

Tom

As and when you have an insert printed please can you post a close up photo of one Paul.

Many thanks again for your efforts with these.
Cheers
Dave.

Hi Paul,

You may have missed my other post but please can you post photo close ups of the inserts and as when please.

Many thanks for your efforts with these.

Cheers

Dave.

Hi Paul,

can I have 4 sets of inserts to be delivered with my footrests please?

warm regards

Andrew

All members wanting Infill parts for the foot rest - can you please review post 20 on this thread please

Best regards,
Paul

All,
Please see post 20 for the latest, updated this morning (bar Toms additional set)
For sets that I am sending to members directly I have been provided with the two missing addresses - thanks

There are still 4 lines in yellow which I would ideally like to get sorted - Are they duplicates from the list above the yellow or simply members who expressed an interest but have as yet not paid

Good news the foot rest as just arrived so I can get on with the final sizing of the infills and start printing

Cheers,
Paul

HI Paul
Sorry - late to the part again! I'd like a set for my footrest too please. I'll send a Paypal payment.
Best wishes
Mike

Mike / Dave - I will add you to the spreadsheet latter today

Just to wet your appetites :)
I've changed material from ABS to PLA, the ABS ones where a little too soft for my liking
Print time was also vastly out, 40min per set of 12 - that will teach me to use the softwares 'guide' to print times, at was estimating 16 mins per 12, but in reality its coming out at 41 mins per 12
At least I can load a bed full which is 2 1/2 hours and leave it printing
I try to get Tom moving on shipping I will print off the ones first for shipment to Tom, and then ship any 'direct to customer' orders afterwards - thanks for your understanding

I must say the finish on the laser cuttings is excellent, there is about 0.006" variation in slot width across the 12 slots on my footrest. I have therefore printed the infills such that they will pop into the smallest slots. The superglue worked as expected just take care as you don't want to get it on the top surface. I got the knack after about 3 infills. I applied a small drop fro mthe bottle at the slot ends and another just before the ap in thr 3M tape, then used a cocktail stick to apply the superglue around the joint, place it on a flat surface and push in the infill piece.
Rinse and repeat 11 times and your all done. Leave the film in place until after the gluing is done and dry - at least 2 hours more if you can wait

I would tempt you all with a photot of it fitted into my A2, but its raining heavy here at the moments so that one will need to wait until mother nature stops thinking my road is a river

Tom and Paul, the end product is first class. In fact I would say they are better than Audi could produce! You both deserve medals for the time and effort that has gone into this project Lets hope Paul has enough raw materials in stock to keep ALL his orders going.
