Today I.....

May I ask please, was the key upgrade straight swap or is there more involved?
Morning,

David might not be able to give you a full answer as he got other Tom to do this for him. Many members have upgraded their keys since reading this thread.

Read through it from start to where you feel confident enough to give it a go, as it explains the whole process which is exactly what I did and utilised to do the same a few years ago:

All the information is freely available to you but you’ll need VCDS to pair the remote half of the remote fob and also someone to grab the SKC from your instrument cluster to pair the new ID48 immobiliser transponder chips. You'll also require a new key blade as the original is too long for the newer style fob, thus won't fold away. If you’re interested in doing this then there is a great eBay seller who offers the correct new shaped key fob for around £50 with a newly cut blade and new ID48 chip.

Kind regards,

Tom

Can’t be a magnetic L plate!

That is a great headline figure Mandy 👍 How was it achieved - steady 50mph? I've seen 72mpg with three up and luggage at a steady 60mph in 200 miles to Exeter before now.

Had two calamities on Tonka, both within half an hour or one another.

I noticed in traffic Tonka was noisier than normal so when I pulled over I had a look underneath and found this.

I drove the 4 miles home. The noise (which I attributed to the exhaust crack) got appreciably louder in the last 1/4 mile and on pulling up I found this. The tyres are less than 1500 miles old 🤦 Unfortunately time precludes investigation or any remedy today however I’m now praying no 3rd A2 calamity befalls me.

That's bad luck, we've just had a flat tyre on our Touran, my wife drove it several miles too and while it's not as bad as yours(!!) - it's now almost certainly damaged internally. Luckily it was down to just under 3mm tread depth at 26,000 miles (Michelin CrossClimate+ - excellent tyres). I've ordered an axle set of the "2" version. At £280 delivered (not fitted)....

It actually looks like the spring has totally failed maybe even causing the blowout,I had a similar experience in only a few miles caused by a failed manhole surround on a bend the pothole was just the right size for my tyre to go in & the bend in the
road caused it to move the bead & leak air with identical results.
Exhaust has failed on the top weld as well from the looks of it.

I’ll get the the wheel off over the next week and have a proper look. It only passed its MOT 2 weeks ago and has barely turned a wheel since so bloomin annoying all round.

I suspect you may be mistaking a spring failure for the weird and wonderful suspension set up on this car. Not my installation so forgive my vagueness but they’re some kind of fully adjustable Bilstein coil over set up so the springs are not the norm. You may though be correct and I’ll update once I’ve got to the bottom of it.
