So, when this elusive car appears it should be photographed along side the highest mileage car that is known within the UK,
FSI.

A possible clue?

"I’m looking forward to getting a nice reliable 1.6 fsi in March, ..."

A Unicorn is, by definition, only a Unicorn while it is mystical, the stuff of legends etc. Once seen, it ceases to be.
Unique? Probably, but, no longer a Unicorn.
Mac.

Well it is still a unicorn to the forum as we haven’t seen pictures etc or have seen it.

Once we have more intonation it will just be a horse with a plunger on its head

Wow. Sounds like a real treasure trove of a car. I remember back in the late 90's(1997-) visiting a vw garage in west wales. They had a Corrado vr6 storm in mystic blue with delivery mileage on it in their show room. I thought it strange at the time as the corrado was no longer in production. I wonder if it's still there??

Pedantry?

No, not pedantry at all. I was simply pointing out that it is, for now, a "Unicorn" (a mythical beast). But, once the "big reveal" takes place it will be a "Unicorn" no more.
Good though i'nnit?
Can the mythical colour be speculated upon?
Mac.

Wow what a surprise that this A2 exists. In some ways I'm glad I didn't have first refusal!

First question would be what is it worth, both in the eyes of the seller and buyer? - there is no reference point for this. Second, what to then do with it?

1. Keep it in store and hope one day in 30 years when there may be no A2s left other than museums, that it will then be worth a small or maybe big fortune
2. Register and use it but that will lower it's value. Plus if used lightly that probably wont be good for an FSi
3. Keep it unregistered but take it to car events on a trailer under wraps. Will need to remove the wax and preserve the steel items.

I think option 3 is the best - keep it and share it.
