A couple of salient points: The lucky chap who owns this treasure can, of course, do with it what he will. We can only sit in the wings and pontificate about "should or shouldn't".

Filled with admiration for the discovery, and very excited to hear more.

Well done to whomsoever!
Might not be a he!!!

Afternoon all,

I’m sure the very fortunate purchaser of this Unicorn will reveal all details soon enough.

Just had a PM from him and I’m quite excited to read all the details along with planned intentions once published.

What possible options could be added that weren’t available from the dealers at the time, or should it stay in its original condition.

Such a great find.

Kind regards,

Tom
It has a very full spec already. Very full.
it would be best left unmodified, surely it will be kept original.

Second clue maybe

"I notice Timmus replied with the haha emoji. I think he’s going to have a surprise!"

Hi all,

I don’t want to spoil this thread but what do you think of soft red led-lit doorhandles, footwell and air-outlet controls? At night that’s a comfy and luxurious sight te see and feel.
Although it is not original, I think the interior of our A2 would benefit from the upgrade.

Sorry but this is not a topic about improvements or modifications. This is just about a brand new and unused A2.
It is not going to be modified (I am pretty sure).
It already has a very full spec and any additions would harm the value of a “virgin new A2”

Your suggestion is interesting and one worth considering.
But not for this thread or this car.

Well spotted Andy!

Yes, it's mine!
I didn't find it, it found me.
I've bought it off an old friend in his last few weeks of life (he had terminal cancer), who offered it to me six weeks ago.
He was a salesman and part owner of an Audi main dealer franchise in the north west.
He bought the car as a replacement for his original 1.6 Fsi for when it became no longer viable to maintain/repair or in the event of it being written off as in his words "It's my perfect car", so it was his next "new" car. This was someone who had a company Audi, one of the latest models every few months, but still preferred his A2.
He's sold it to me on the proviso it won't be "stuffed and mounted" or be a "Garage Queen" but used as a normal car would be. It was bought and stored to be used in the future and that's what's happening to respect his wishes.
It's going into his dealership the last week in February for tyres (it was delivered on 4 steel wheels, with the alloys supplied unshod), full service, brake fluid/hoses changed, cambelt/water pump etc., and anything else they find that would be better renewed, all using genuine parts. They have 2 long serving mechanics who are very familiar with the A2.
It will be registered on 1st March on a 21 plate - one of his colleagues is going to attempt the purchase from DVLA of one of 2 "ideal" numbers when they come up for sale in November.
It's currently in private storage on 4 modified axle stands that had locating pins fitted to seat in the 4 post lift points, in an air conditioned environment, still all in the protective delivery materials. Because of the location it's stored in I wasn't allowed to take photos, for security purposes, but there will be plenty posted from the moment it's loaded onto the transporter in late February.
The car is Mauritius Blue with black interior, black heated/lumbar leather sports seats, OSS and just about every other option on the list (including factory fitted cruise control, Bose, DIS and rear electric windows, so Timmus's services won't be required) .
The only "upgrade" I'm making will be to fit an RNS-E, but that's completely removable without trace should the need arise, as it's already a double din dash.

I've already turned down an offer of £30K for it!

Cheers
Ian

Lucky find. I would keep it unused but obviously in this situation it is best to keep the previous owners wish in mind. I suspect it might not be possible to register it as new though? I think you need a certificate of newness which I would be surprised if Audi will give one on a 15+ year old car.

Awesome! I’m sure Audi would offer you double that for their museum in Ingolstadt! Wonderful unicorn find!

I’m sure there won’t be a problem registering as new, I’ve registered plenty of 2-3 year old cars in the past for customers, can’t see why there would be an issue just because the car is older.
