Could be really useful if you logged data over different engine speeds and loads I think.I’ll take a long look at this and have a think. Thank you.
Looks straight forward thank you. Ill check out my version of VCDS, I’ve got the lite version, I suspect it won’t do this check.Could be really useful if you logged data over different engine speeds and loads I think.

Lite does do it, but you need to get it licensed by Rosstech, (via their website), cost is $99.Looks straight forward thank you. Ill check out my version of VCDS, I’ve got the lite version, I suspect it won’t do this check.
Cold = air is much dryer. The car has stopped misfiring since the weather became cold. Does this suggest anything to anybody?
Consequently I've not progressed a diagnostic licence, what difference could the cold make?
Thank you.
That's tempting low miles but iI think I'm going to need a head and a block. The bores on No1 look like this:I've got a head on the shelf from a 105k mile engine if that's any help.
Thats fairly damaged all over isn't it reallyThat's tempting low miles but iI think I'm going to need a head and a block. The bores on No1 look like this:

I've inserted all of the pictures I uploaded, see above. Yes I think is probably best refereed to as duckedThats fairly damaged all over isn't it really
Really uncommon for the TDI engine to go like this. I've seen cylinders on cars with 250k plus still look super smooth and brand new.I've inserted all of the pictures I uploaded, see above. Yes I think is probably best refereed to as ducked
It is a victim of the ECP, GSF Halfords data base error. I was supplied with 5v glow plugs before the problem was reported on here. The damage is due to melted glow plugs.Really uncommon for the TDI engine to go like this. I've seen cylinders on cars with 250k plus still look super smooth and brand new.
Hi Phil,Found something else that could contribute to smoke on starting and could contribute to misfire? Lower most O ring sealing the combustion chamber from the pressure rail fed by the tandem pump. Or perhaps not there is a further brass washer; anyway it is not good and will have been leaking:

New seals and washers fitted.

Fingers crossed for no misfires until I find a replacement engine.
Hi, no I never bothered to measure the new brass washers. Being branded Bosch I assumed they were correct.Hi Phil,
I thought the same but have you measured the thickness with a mic or vernier to confirm?
If you look at the new washers you’ve fitted there’s a very faint mark in the middle of the edge I think.
Cheers
Keith.
