Audi Driver International 2005

Hi all,

I thought you may be interested to know that Audi Driver International is taking place this year on Saturday 22nd October at Castle Coombe.

Sadly I will not be able to attend or organise an A2OC gathering there but if there is a volunteer you are very welcome to organise something and I will let you know who to inform so that some grass is reserved for the A2OC. In the past, before the event we have met at the Castle Coombe village or at the public car park near the entrance to the village.

In previous years it has proved to be a fun day out for the whole family with the highlight being the (slow) lap around the racetrack.

Full details are at: www.audidriverinternational.co.uk

You'll notice in the clubs section of the above website, the A2OC has been featured - that was the second year we attended and had an excellent attendance of A2s.

I really enjoyed this event last year, as did the rest of the family, I still claim the fastest dog around Castle Combe, during the slow lap of course!
I would make every attempt to be there if we go as a Club(?) group, or whatever.
Everyone who attended last year seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day, It would be nice if someone could organise it, I'd love to in normal circumstances, but I can't be relied on whilst in the grip of chemotherapy.
Please someone, take it on.

That's re-assuring, try and beat 14 A2's in a row, and listen to the snide comments from REAL (or so they think) Audi owners. We put up a very impressive show and it made people sit up. I really would like to be there, we will have to see how the chemo goes. I can feel really rough by the weekend after a Tuesday all day session.
Here's to the 22nd October! Sorry can't drink to that , chemo equals no alcohol (or sex, or chocolate, or curries, or..... that's enough noes)

Ok as promised here is a selection of hotels i have tried to feature
hotels for everyone's pocket and as far as i know they are all ok as
many of my friends and family stayed in these hotels in swindon as my wife organised a surprise 40th birthday party for me so we no these hotels are ok if anyone was thinking of staying in one on the day most of the hotels are on the West side of Swindon which is generally no more than 20-25 minute drive to/from Castle Combe so they are all fairly local ...

Thought I'd better mention that the event organisers have offered rooms at a local hotel for either the Fri or Sat night:
Hilton Hotel, Lydiard Fields, Swindon: £40 (per person, double/twin occupancy) or £55 (per person, single occupancy)

Wooly - thanks for volunteering! - Let me know as soon as you have confirmed numbers for the event and I will email the organisers so that a plot is reserved for the A2OC.

If any of you are the adventurous kind, the whole area around Castle Coombe (and towards Bath/Corsham etc) is full of secret underground tunnels and such like. A good resource for them is here:

Wooly - I've just sent you an email with some advice on how to proceed.
