Audi Driver International 2005

I really enjoyed this event last year, as did the rest of the family, I still claim the fastest dog around Castle Combe, during the slow lap of course!
Hey just found this pic is it Holly
Frfort.jpg

Not quite, wooly. It looks more like Bert our dear departed Beagle. Holly is very composed and ladylike. My son Peter said he would like to come again this year, this greatly increases my chances of attendance because I get him to drive. Whilst on chemo I like to restrict my driving to 2 hours, this allows a 50% margin for problems. It would be helpful if we could see who is who this year, just a forum name in the windscreen would do.
Do we need an entry pass as last year?

HI hollyrescue thats sounds like a good idea alongs as no one objects i will make some name plaques or something that we can put in our windscreens we will all need an entry pass .. You hang from your mirror i have 20 at the moment so unless we have a sudden surge of people wanting to go then i should have enough for everyone who wants to attend ...............

Sorry guys, I've just realised that the 22nd coincides with a wedding we're going to. I'm gonna have to miss this one which is a shame as the last 2 have been worth the trip - even if the weather was bloody awful.

Wooly, I'll have a chat with my mate today & see if he's still up for going.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

Thats great news great choice of car
look forward to seeing you there
will add you to the list ......

I thought that my driver , Peter, would be unable to come as he will be representing Great Britain in New York in early November, and would be in strict training. He is so keen to come that he will skip training for the day, but will be eating his special diet anyway. It just shows what a good day it was last year.

Sorry Wolly, my mates given a thumbs down as well now...

A real shame as we've both been to the previous 2 meets there & were really looking forward to it. Plus it's like a birthday trip for our A2 as it was only 3 days old when we went the first time.

Is there any deposit that needs to be paid in advance?

I'm getting quite excited now - we've sorted things out with the sister in law in Newport. Only trouble is, I might not have the S2 mirrors done in time - they're being vacuum metalised to give them a genuine chrome coat - not just a layer of paint.

WAS : A2 TDI SE 2001 Ebony Black Pearl (The Little Tank!)
NOW : A2 TDi 90 Sport, OpenSky, winter pack, ISOfix, all-round fogs, climate control, all-round electric windows, Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB54, genuine HID xenons and red leather! Not to mention CCC Tech chipping (118bhp), K&N air filter, all round tinting, all-black headlining and retro-fitted cruise control and GALA.(The NEW Tank).

HI Mike
No deposit required just pay £5 per person on the gate I
Have the passes required to display your A2 so we all need to meet
somwhere before we all enter the event .....

Wooly, the most boring bit of the M4 is J16 to J17 and it adds about 35 miles to anyones journey from a westerly direction. It makes no difference to me I come from the east, and if you ask 12 people where to meet, you get 12 answers. I suppose you could count the traffic cones between 16 and 17 though. I think that a meet just off J17 would be more convenient and there would be more chance of us sticking together.
What do you think of Morrisons supermarket in Chippenham for a meet? It has the added advantage of a good breakfast to set you up for the day as well, £3.49 for the whole works if I remember correctly. It is also on the way to CC and very easy to find, especially for gifted people such as A2 owners.

I have to take issue with you about 16 to 17. My vote for dull bits of M4 is J12 to J13, followed by J13 to J14. J16 to J17 has that nice bit when you come down from Swindon and you get a good view across towards the Somerfords on the right and Lyneham up on the left... [B)]

I agree that it's a long bit of road though. See you in a couple of weeks.

DRN, I suppose I'm getting fed up with the M4 when I get to J16, especially after negotiating most of the M25, and the bit down to Reading and past Slough. I'll pay more attention next time. I'm just looking for J17 and the end of the journey. Cruise control is worth it's weight in gold on this trip. I tried leaving at J16 and going through Wootton Basset. That story is best told over a pint, and you still won't believe it! See my previous posts re Wiltshire drivers and r/bouts

Ah - Wootton Basset - the longest village in the UK. I know what you mean about the drive though - I used to commute from East London to Newbury (a 3 -> 7 hour drive each way, depending on traffic).

Incidently - in case anyone wasn't aware of it - J14 -> J18 of the M4 is now a gun controlled 70mpg zone - the speed vans tend to hang about on the various bridges along that stretch. Just watch out for people breaking suddenly when they see anything resembling a police vehicle... There are also a number of 50mph stretches at the moment.
