I'm impressed. Is it straight forward? I have vanity mirrors in my petrol but not in my diesel and would love to transplant them. Thanks.View attachment 83406
Removed the rear axle from my breaker today that I’ll be cleaning up and fitting to this project. In 5+ Years of A2 breaking I've never actually removed a rear axle. Went very well, all removed without any damage in about an hour and 20 mins. I’m going to leave the fitting to my mechanic friend because whilst I feel confident in doing it, the last thing I’d want is for a bolt to snap and then I’m stuck without a car for work. Plus I’d like to upgrade the bushes while it’s all apart.
Now onto proud dad moment
Harriet (8) was complaining that she didn’t have a vanity mirror when riding in the front. So I asked her to do something about it and fit a replacement. With only my instruction, she managed to do it. Super proud and her first car mod.

Steve, anyone crabbing that needs to have a word themselves. Good on you, great job. ?Now these next mods really won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I like them and that’s pretty much all that matters ?
To go with my solid wood steering wheel and gearknob, I’ve added a solid wood grab handle made out of a pew from a Welsh Chapel.

I’ve also added Audi A8 door cappings, trimmed down to fit the A2 doorcard

And although my interior is currently a bit stripped down for the disc brake rear axle mod, it really does add something to the interior.
I’m now at 100% wood capacity before becoming too much ?

Great innovation Steve! IS the audi bage engraved into the wood or transfer over varnish? on the grab handle?
Theres a disc axle on ebay for £95 if you fancied doing another restoration on one. Those TT seats look so plush and comfy, really suit the car.

Does look good against the black. Is the hand brake grip getting the wood treatment also to finish off that whole area?
Now you’re talking ?Brushed grip and new alu release button? New billet buttons would be very popular if you can find someone.
Needs a bracketReally impressed Steve, as you do not to everyone’s taste but it’s exclusive and you like it!
Agree it’s just enough wood!
Were the TT seats a straight swap? After seeing yours this week got me looking lol!
