Bespoke Branded Footwell Mats Group Order

I thought I'd move the list to the very start of the thread for easier viewing.

Here's the list below which will be updated periodically to show you the I have captured your interest. I'll revise the list over the next few days to ensure its fit for purpose but this should suffice for now:

As you've come to understand from pervious dealings, this Group Order is of course yet another zero profit venture. I'll be paying exactly the same for my mats that you are for yours. My time working in the background for you is free of charge, a way of giving back to the community I both enjoy and serve.

Afternoon Erling,

I’m pretty sure you’ll be very impressed when yours arrive Sir. They’re not dispatched just yet though as they’re heading back to the factory for some adjustments and the heel pad adding, all of us are in the same boat to be honest as the factory didn’t add the standard (carpeted) heel pads which they have apologised and take full responsibility for.

The members who chose rubber heel pads are already in transit or have since been delivered. David @devans was the only member who chose to not have a heel pad so I sent him a set that had perfectly placed embroidered logo swatches. They are both correct and parallel although it may not look that way in the picture of the drivers side due to the camera angle. Both David and I can assure you that they are absolutely spot on.

More to follow in the next week or 2 once I have the whole shipments back with me for distribution.

Evening all,

Quick update for you all as information has been lacking since the delivery last week.

So far 5 sets of mats have been delivered to members of this great community. The remainder are boxed up to be returned to the factory for rectification. Mainly adding the carpeted heel pad which was omitted by accident along with 18 fronts that need the embroidered logo relocating.

Dan at Simply Car Mats has been superb throughout this rather large blunder and of course offered to pay for return shipping as you’d expect. Since getting the return address this morning, It turns out that the factory isn’t too far from me so I’m personally dropping them off tomorrow. Fuel costs are of course being covered. This will provide the opportunity to meet the factory director and show/explain the issues that require attention. A face to face is certainly needed here to avoid any further confusion.

Depending on the turn round time I may even be able to inspect and collect once the consignment is ready for dispatch as it’s only a 30 minute detour whilst on my commute, but do have family commitments in the coming weeks.

In short, everything is all looking good to have what you’ve all paid for in your aluminium friends soonest.

I’m open to a second run once this first iteration passes the line. It’ll take a while to get to the 30 sets for the best discount but I’m happy to start a part 2 thread in the coming months.

Afternoon all,

Happy to report that all the mats from this venture that require rectification have been hand delivered to the factory. Having spoken to Tracy, the manager who was expecting me, she said it should be resolved in the next week or 2. All necessary tasks for each mat were explained in detail to ensure no further implications. Once remedial works are complete, the mats will either be shipped to me or I’ll collect on the way home from work.

Apologies again for the delays so far but I should be able to have your mats in your footwells early August. I’ll PM you all individually to understand if anyone requires me to hold them a little longer should you be away from home on holiday etcetera.

Apologies for the radio silence on this thread, take it as no news is good news!

I have just had a message fro Dan at Simply Car Mats that the mats that required alteration will be shipped back to me on Monday. I'm assuming I'll have them by the middle of next week. They will dispatched to you all as quick as possible, you'll know when your mats are in transit as I'll PM you with your tracking number which you can follow on the EVRi app or website.

Be nice to see this one closed so I can work out what my next zero profit offering could be. I have thought about headlamp protectors but not sure there would be much interest in these. Happy to hear your collective thoughts, any additional ideas most welcome.

This might be a few weeks later but if you’re wanting them sooner than you can go direct to Simply Car Mats but that will of course not be at 35% discount. You will however get 10% as you’re a member of this fine Club.

Thanks Tom - happy to wait a few weeks. Plenty of other fettling to be done in the mean time! Appreciate the effort you put in to do these things!

For those of you who haven’t seen the latest post on the Project OEM thread, guess what arrived this evening?

The last few hours I’ve gone through the whole consignment to conduct some QC and all is spot on and exactly what I was expecting. All the front mats that were returned have been married up with their rears, which I kept here in Coalville. Slowly but surely your mats are being packaged up.

I wont start to get these dispatched until tomorrow evening and may well have to be stretched out to the following evening or possibly as late as Friday afternoon, but I’ll certainly have them all dispatched by the weekend.

Erling @Erlingtheyounger and Peter @mapping: if you’re in the neighbourhood then your mats are ready for collection.

Ian @Proghound your mats will be hand delivered this Saturday as I’ll be within walking distance Sir.

Everyone else who has chosen delivery should have their mats some point next week. Main thing is that members attending the Normal for Norfolk social will have their mats in the footwell before they set off.

Time to call it a day here but before I retire until tomorrow I thought I'd update the list back at Post #1.

@robrace, your set is being returned again as they have cut your mats for a LHD A2. This discrepancy is in hand and Simply Car Mats may well send you mats direct to you opposed to sending them to me to forward on. I must say your colour choice is very elegant and I know you'll be more than happy once you receive them.

As mentioned in the post above, I'll continue to package up the mats tomorrow evening and get them dispatched soonest, certainly by the weekend anyway as I have a family get together commitment over the weekend. I'll not stop until all is sent. I cannot wait to see these stunning mats in your footwells. Please do add a picture or 2 to this thread once they're fitted.

I can confirm that all the mats less for the red line on the current list are now packaged up ready for dispatch. This will commence this evening and as said in an earlier post, will probably take 2 evenings to have them all logged into the mail system as the local shop closes 20-30 minutes before I can get there.

Had a very productive late afternoon here at 2work Towers and have managed to get all the remaining sets from the earlier picture dispatched. The list back at Post #1 has ben updated.

As a reminder, I had to put up the additional fees due to EVRi's increased price for the chosen service and insurance. Heres an explanation which I'll include within your PMs later this evening that'll have your tracking number:

Online they are still what I posted at Post #3 but at the actual machine it was different. The £5.86 standard fee is now £6.36 so an additional £0.50

The insurance of £1.32 now comes in at a straight £2.00 with an additional £0.90 for signature which is an option I cannot remove. So an additional cost of £1.58.

All in to send your mats was an extra £2.08 from the original price paid. This leaves me currently out off pocket by the £2.08 per set sent but I know some have since paid an additional £0.68 so please wait for the PM for me to provide you with an updated total required.

The mats that have been dropped off this evening of course missed todays lunchtime collection. They will be collected tomorrow lunchtime and should be with you just after this weekend.

I'm really happy with the quality and look of the mats fitted but glad this venture is almost at the finish line. The end result is outstanding but its had its frustrations along the way.

To even consider starting a second run of these will of course require some interest, this can be generated by your good selves by some kind of publicity stunt, simply adding pictures of your new mats once fitted into your aluminium friend(s) should be all that is required along with any feedback.

Hope all is well down the road. I’ll certainly start a Group Order type thread in the coming weeks where members can register their interest. It’ll be a no-obligation vote of course but if I get near the minimum order of 30 sets (for the best discount) then I’ll ask everyone to confirm their interest and take it from there. Should a round two happen then it’ll most certainly be complete from paying to fitting the mats under one month, all the leg work has already been done throughout this round.
