car mods

Have you got a link for these Steve? I had to buy a Euro set of headlights and luckily got some splittable ones, so should be easy. No good with wiring so might get a mechanic to do that part.

They are at

Wiring is easy. inside the headlamp you will find the wires that go to the sidelight bulb. cut them and splice in the black wire from the tube control box to the brown wire on the sidelights (brown is earth on Audis) splice in the red wire to the other wire that goes to the sidelight. finally splice the third wire from the control box to the indicator wire (not the brown wire, the other one) then plug the light tub plug into the other end of the control box, job done.

It kills the A2 identity in my eyes.

I agree, but this thread is about modifying an A2, that is always going to change its identity and sometimes that is the whole point of customising.

I think that a totally OEM A2 is a thing of beauty as it is, but I also like to see people tastefully customising their car, vivre le difference and all that.

So I embrace BOTH "camps"

Think birchall hit the nail on the head .... if i remember right my a2 was called the marmite car .. lol .. we have a genuine oem a2 in sarahs car and my approach was to do something different with mine .. for me its about seeing what else can be done without spoiling the car itself ... i like to be different but can also see peoples points regards to the need not to loose the original identity of the a2 ..

I like it, and I clicked "like" I think it would be good if their was a "don't like" option just to see who dont :)

Hi Scott, I would prefer it if someone who wanted to say that they don't like it, used a reply instead.

The "Like" option is meant to be used for when you like the post, not necessarily if you like the picture in the post?

There are also some people on here that hate the "like" button, so adding another one might not go down well.

Perhaps changing the thread to one with a vote instead might work? The vote would be something like "Do you like this proposed mod?"

But perhaps a simple reply might be best in this case?

Im pretty sure that people on the forum would make their views known on here ... one thing im confident in there is no real negativity or offence meant by anyones opinion .. having met quite a few members on here and at meets they are all a nice bunch and its quite nice to hear what people think... good or bad... eap regards anything im planning with my car ..

My photoshop is a little misleading to be honest. I've messed with the grille to fit the proportions of the original grille and lower section in the bumper if that makes sense. I think I used an A1 grille for the second version but in reality the base dimension is a narrower so would be less square in shape. I think with some patience and a good body guy it could look very nice. I might do a final version with the A1 and keep the shape as close to the original as possible.

Hi,

Yes but you would then need the same adapters as ZipnJeff (because of the different PCD) which will push the wheels further out in the arches and so you would also have to trim the arches back quite a lot as well. The inner wheel protectors would also have to be trimmed I think (ZipnJeff?) That is even if you are not fitting an air ride set up.
The 8" wide wheels only JUST about fit in the A2 and that is if the offset is correct and with the width of the adapters it is just too much offset (or too little, whichever it is)

That great look doesn't come easy.
