Is Stealth worth it?

And a good price it is too to be honest. Go for it.

Agreed, the most recent remap I had for another car was £320 and that was a 'special offer' - given that it was a library map too; I think the rolling road/individually tailored map offered by Stealth ( and I'm sure others too) is a fair deal at £270 inclusive.

With regard to insurance, LV= just indicated that the remap would add an extra £32 to the annual premium. Thats about a 13% increase, somewhat less than the BHP gained.

Having just had mine Stealth'd Tuesday gone I can confirm the price is still £270.

Vince and the chaps at Stealth did their thing for me yesterday. So the TDi(79) has now become a TDi(96) and the car feels much nicer to drive. The torque now seems to match the car, making it feel as enthusiastic as the 6N2 Polo 1.4TDi that my wife had before the A2. At the same time they also installed cruise control which is a marvellous thing for fatigue reduction on long trips. Its a shame that the A2 doesn't indicate cruise engagement on the dash, but it works really well in operation. Highly recommended. All done in about 4 hours at a total cost of £480.

I popped into Stealth after the Glastonbury festival - we had driven from Dublin/Holyhead down to Somerset via a night's camping in the Brecon Beacons, and drove up to Leamington Spa after the festival - so was well placed to judge the before and after. Unfortunately I was a bit zonked when I dropped the car in, and have misplaced my printouts, but I think I'm now running 106bhp on my 75bhp TDi. Aside from the car stinking of cider (leaving your car parked up a weekend with 5 litres of Wilkins farmhouse scrumpy in the boot - ongoing fermentation, plastic containers, time and heat don't mix well), the car is much more willing to accelerate through all gears, pulls away more strongly from traffic lights, and no downsides (smoke, fuel economy, etc) evident. I'd been caught by a nice policeman with a speed gun on the way down through Wales, so I wasn't going to risk a second brush with the law on the way back to the ferry, but it feels like it has that much more poke now - motorway overtaking is noticeably improved.

All in all - I'm a happy camper with Stealth. Had cruise control already. Just need to improve the tired stock suspension now ( or when there's some money in the kitty).
