Sounds good. I'm doing my best to keep myself unscheduled at the moment so as to maximise my chances of being able to attend. I'm guessing we don't have a provisional date yet, David?
When we say things like 'should have', 'would have', 'could have', 'must have', 'might have', 'will have', etc, we say it so fast that the 'have' sounds a bit like 'of'. However, if you replace the word 'have' with 'of' in the sentences below, they no longer make sense...
I of lots of tools in my garage.
Of you got any oil for my engine?
We of had a wonderful time on holiday.
I of to fill up my fuel tank, otherwise I won't be able to drive more than 5 miles.
I would of passed my driving test.
I could of talked for hours, but she asked me if I wanted to of sex.
I should of a long walk on a short pier and stop being such a bloody pedant!!
Louis, it would be excellent if you
have passed your driving test by the time the spanner meeting comes around. When is your test booked? Will this be your first attempt? Fingers firmly crossed for you.
However, as Murdo says, Glasgow isn't exactly around the corner from yours, and such a long drive for such a new driver isn't to be taken lightly. Do you think you're likely to make the journey with a family member? Admittedly I'm only 2 hours south of Glasgow, but I'd be happy to drive up in convoy if that adds to the fun, community spirit and/or safety. I only live a few miles off the M6.
Cheers,
Tom
