TDI 90, VCDS Errors, and Garage suggestions in South East England.

Hi. Thanks for the suggestion, I have not checked the fluid colour, I'll do that ASAP, and change it. (It is probably quite old).

One thing that has occurred to me is that one rear disc has seized on really hard. Possibly due to rust as the car had not been moved for some time. (Though it did start in an instant!). It's presently parked on open ground which is a bit boggy so I'm just getting some supports ready to be able to safely jack it up.

Regarding pattern parts, I do take your point, I was a bit shocked though when my dad bought a water temp (I think) sensor from Audi some time ago and it was about £40! Though he has in the past fitted a pattern MAF unit (on a Vauxhall) and that was complete crap so eventually it was binned.

In terms of the intake flap malfunction:

I did an extra check with someone in the drivers seat, I was standing outside the car looking into the inlet flap.
The test procedure was that the car was started, run for a minute or so with occasional revving, and then stopped.

I could see that the flap moved slightly on start up. Upon the engine stopping it fully closed for a second or so, then reopened.

As far as my limited knowledge goes this is correct mechanical operation of the flap.

Pretty much conclusively pointing to this being the software bug.

I will contact timmus with a view to get the ECU reprogram.
