Hi, I just ordered the OESpectrum as these are the next generation from Monroe for the Reflex shox. Seem to be goo per the advertising blurb and manage the feel of buzzy roads better... so they say. I also ordered the Spidan springs (49527 front, 49546 rear) after a lot of searching. I have ordered top mounts and bearings from online auto shops and will get the bump stops (sport) and dust covers from local Audi to me.
Going for the SE version of the upper rubber spring seat for the extra height just in case the back end sits low with the lower sport spring seat version (-10mm from SE version). Mine is a TDI 90bph.
If anyone can help... does anyone know if the rear top strut mount has a bearing also? I am not clear on this and the online order I did I note states 'Without anti-friction bearing'.... suggests there may be a bearing to be ordered for it, but cant find anything on searches and it is not listed in the definitive parts lit from Timmus.
Cheers, Douglas.
We have Bilstien's and they definitely are not firm, very happy with them as far as I know.I discounted the Bilstein option after speaking to a mate on here who's fitted them and said they were too firm.
Just ordered a pair of Spidan 49515 and a pair of 49546 so I can go through the suspension on our 168k A2 TDI in the next few weeks.
Ordered them from German site carondo.com which went fine. Hopefully they'll be here shortly. 123Euros including carriage.
How are people finding the recommended Monroe dampers? Lots of chat in here about the parts, but I'm interested in the outcome from fitting them, too! I discounted the Bilstein option after speaking to a mate on here who's fitted them and said they were too firm.

Bilstein B3 springs with B4 shocks. What springs are you using with the Bilsteins? That would make a big difference.
should i order anything else when buying these springs? how will i know if i need a top mount bearing and if it needs replaced?
i hope they're the correct ones as there are many to choose from.

Worn strut top mounts can cause the spring to jump which makes a fairly recognisable noise (slow speed/stationery turns). I love to save money though the effort involved in changing the mounts means you may as well do them unless you know their history.should i order anything else when buying these springs? how will i know if i need a top mount bearing and if it needs replaced?

It was a while ago but I got mine from Amazon:Where are people getting their Monroe dampers from? I'm drawing a blank online.
