Today I.....

Well, today I managed to get a little green pipe coming from the N75 valve inserted into a rubber pipe connected to the turbo housing. This will hopefully fix my limp mode issue on aggressive acceleration. I gave it a drive and pushed it as hard as I could and the scan afterwards showed no error codes.
I managed this from above the engine after I had been told it would only be possible from below the engine, hence my sense of achievement to post it here on the "today I ..." thread

...had a little jolly from London up to Harrogate to meet up with @rosscanning to hand over his latest batch of seats, collected for him from Ashford, and at the same time pass up the chain a pair of doors from @Clackers for @Evoman which Ross is arranging to get further north.
Then back to Saddleworth (where I’m originally from) for a family get together.
With the refurbished cylinder head fitted (thank you, @depronman and @Proghound) the car is quieter and much more economical on fuel, having now got 16 fully functional valves it’s got more low down torque so I’m able to use higher gears at lower speeds. In London traffic I’m getting an almost 7mpg improvement. Plus, the irritating little intermittent misfire on idle has completely gone.

Today I, scrubbed the rear window below and above the spoiler with a toothbrush to clean off the last owners years of dirt. I’m still in week one of ownership and my pile of parcels is getting bigger ready for a day with the spanner’s. No time to work on the car as we have already covered 600 miles together on our staycation. Its just had a good wash and the seats cleaned so far and a tank of fuel.

Thanks Dave, comfort might be a tad optimistic though on 17 inch rims. ;)

Hi @Darren C picking up on an old post!

Rear H&R fitting - did you use lithium grease (or did it come with grease?) on the bushes? Only reason for ask is that I note the whiteline rear arb comes with grease for use inside the bushing.

Sorry for asking you to remember :)

So finally came to the end of a small journey when the car's refrigerant was filled up successfully yesterday,

Over the last 2 months I've:

- replaced coilovers with Monroe OESpectrum / reflex sport struts.
- installed Weitec springs

Riding now as it is on the pepperpots the ride quality is really improved with only neglible impact on handling.

- replaced Condenser, dryer and compressor for the AC. Compressor died so took the opportunity to replace the other components at the same time.
- Had Colour DIS installed by Tom. Its ace didn't expect to like it this much :)
- Regular oil service including panel and fuel filter replacements. Is 25k too soon to replace the fuel filter?
- Purchased rear H&R ARB (yet to be installed!)
- Bilt hamber underseal applied to various non aluminium pieces on rear and front axle areas.

This little list comes to probably the value of the car as a total if I'm honest but I dont plan on selling anytime soon. This is all for my driving pleasure and assurance given I leave on holiday in 3 weeks with the car on the way to Italy.

Today I, collected my A2 from having the front and rear bumpers repaired and resprayed in addition to the rear wheel arches. Four wheels refurbished too. Just awaiting delivery of the new centre caps. :)

Today I...
Changed the air filter, cabin filter, gearbox oil, cleaned and greased the linkage. The oil and filter will have to wait as I couldn’t get the filter housing undone with a spanner, 36mm socket on its way. Gear change much better, although 3rd and 4th still stiff, so will do adjustment next. Cleaned temp sender connector but gauge still not working so need to order a new sender next, although the contact cleaner did cure the volume control on the Concert CD player (that kept going down when you turned it up). Just waiting on the next load of parcels now :)

Today I fitted a new Temperature Sender to my 1.4 Jaipur, and now have a working Temp Gauge.
So I decided to do the same on my latest Tdi75 with AMF engine. What a pig! Had forgotten how awkward that is.
Once done and whilst hands were filthy, I decided to renew the Tdi Thermostat. Faorly straightforward, after having replaced one previously, however will machine down a 1/4 drive 10mm socket to make access to the lower screw easier next time!

Good to see you getting your hands dirty ?

Hi Scott,

I had the complete set-up fitted by @robin and genuinely can't recall this element of the process. I don't remember any grease being supplied however and my best recall would be lithium grease/equivalent.

Apologies.

Darren

Today, and yesterday, and tomorrow, I'm using the A2 as a daily driver. Loving it! The sedate pace I'm employing to respect the car during my short commute causes me no problem and I really look forward to my early morning drive and the equivalent evening return journey. The A2 really is a pleasure. I sometimes pinch myself that after 14 years since I first bought one, these classic aluminium chariots continue to evoke such emotion and driving pleasure in me.
