I was lucky enough that Robin and I had the car lifted to do all the suspension work. I'd imagine it a sod on ramps and axle stands. Good job Sir.

Cheers and agreed darren there was a point today where I doubted I was going to get there. Awkward isn't the word .

Today I fitted a Cambelt Kit, Fanbelt, Waterpump, Waterless coolant (put the flush in) ...
and Cleaned the Maf Sensor, Throttle Body and EGR ..

Hate to say it but every car I've seen waterless coolant in has had it removed a short while after. While it has certain properties that make it better than water/antifreeze it has a tendency to increase oil temp which then increases water temp. Admittedly this was in historic race cars such as GT40"s and E types but the same principles apply.

Hey, you might be right, but, I think THE 'scary bit' IS the 2 or 3 degrees higher than normal running temps..
(..that can be experienced under certain conditions)
*note: this is with the flush installed.. (not yet fitted the actual coolant, :p)

Has Basil, got a project thread? It would be a shame for so much work to get lost in 'today I'.

Nice work on the box section subframe and mounts for the wishbones. Future proofing there.

Hi steve

When I brought Basil a little over a year ago , I had a plan of what was going to happen to the car , and that plan mainly was around updating the car to allow for blue tooth , bit more speed , and better MPG ... things appear to have gotten out of hand due to “events “ ... those being the crankshaft snapping ,buckling 9 spoke wheels , and the car lobbing it’s self down the drive
I have really good notes, photos etc ,on engine rebuild , gearbox installation , satnav , brakes , springs etc .
It’s was never my intention to start a project thread , but maybe it’s time !

Today i've temporary ( might leave in place) a drainage problem / leaky washer jet , water dripping on to the gear selector tower causing problems when changing gears

Today I went from St Annes to Silverstone for an experience day, on the way back at around 6:30 I say a black (I think) A2 pulling a silver trailer, was it you ?
I was heading towards the M6, the A2 with trailer heading towards the M1, I think the Road is the A500 (goes from M6 Junction 16 to the M1 basically across country, past Derby and the JCB factory)

Also Of note was 415miles from full and the low fuel light has not come on yet, needle is close to red, but not there yet, quiet impressive for the 34 litre tank and the fact that I was not hanging about and hardly any 50MPH zones on the trip

I changed the heater / blower motor for the second time in 9 years ..

I see you had a Princess 2.2HLS! Very nice, that was the 6 cylinder one I think! My Dad had the 2000HLS, WFS 437W, in a deep red/wine colour with black vinyl roof. Super plush interior, loved that it had front arm rests! Happy memories!

Today I did my first “big” journey in the new to me A2, I’ve had it 14 days and now clocked 1100 miles only 5 of which have been on the Motorway! Today travelled 5hr’s north easterly to get to the south coast (it’s great living in Cornwall) a couple of conference calls and lunch on route. 168 miles @66mpg, I’m happy with that considering I’m only half way through the major service and it’s running on 17” Snow and Mountain (or mud depending on your acronyms) tyres.
