Today I.....

I seem to remember that the dual air bag system fitted to the A2 WILL deploy both air bags in a frontal collision. The exception to this is ISOFIX fitted cars that have the passenger air bag disable switch in the glovebox, and turned off.
None of my cars have ISOfix nor the switch in the glovebox.
I now understand that this is not as straight forward as hoped so I jump to this tread for further trouble shooting:

This is my first crash so I was a bit shocked about the fumes/smoke/dust from the airbags.... as an advice I would ask all of you to "program" yourselves to automatically open the windows without any delay....

Not today but last week did three oil and filter changes.
Surprised at the differing amounts of oil from each A2. All TDI 75s.

Puncture repair.
Took around 15 minutes not including pumping the tyre up.
Not everyone's choice i know but will definitely get you out of a fix until you either replace the tyre or get it vulcanised from the inside.

No bubbles at 40 psi.

Today I had the first of my service deliveries, Liqui Moly Engine Flush, Diesel flush to follow & full service kit for the 52 plate A4 TDI Avant in time for its MOT later in the month.
Double cans as one will be saved from each set for its little younger sibling A2 TDI sometime next year.

Today (whilst sitting in slow moving motorway traffic) I discovered that I can get my 1.4 petrol from a standstill to 20mph, using all 5 gears, without once touching the accelerator.

If you get the timing and throttle / revs correct you can get up and down the gearbox without using the clutch.
I've done that before with my old Nova, but that was a rusted out pile of scrap. Wouldn't want to risk it with my A2.

And today the second set of packages arrived. Diesel purge, sump plug & washer with sample sump washer pack & full Bosch service kit for the A4 TDI, again One extra diesel purge for the A2's next service treat.
No affiliation to any of the sellers just how I found them when on the www.
Good service & delivery from both based on the my experience on this occasion.
Stan H.

Picked up and drove my near 290k AMF after the MOT and fitting of the set of injectors I picked up from another local member just at the start of lockdown and sent for refurb at Darwen Diesels this summer. I've commented before that the originals were probably exhibiting signs of wear including occasional drips of fuel left in the engine before starting up (causing a couple of seconds of revving on starts). These had been fitted along with a new rocker cover and loom (and all new injector stretch bolts etc.) and then all put back together following the recommended adjustment procedure. Obviously very unscientific, but first impressions are that there has been a gain of mid-range power, and secondly that I am seeing instant economy numbers on the miniDIS that I've never seen before with this car - possibly as a result of better injection quantity control and mixture aerosol generation. I will wait and see and check it on fuelly over the next few weeks although obviously the weather is getting colder.

Today I.... had to clean the trunk since "somebody" had lived there for some time.... and not cleaned up.

But the biggest surprise was that someone had hidden a solid piece of steel in my trunk.....
My first thought was that it was a friend of mine that was playing with me for fun and to laugh of my project Letty....
Is this foam box with partnummer and steel inside really made by Audi ?

Some early ones (diesels I think?) had extra weight in the boot - counterintuitive what with the whole lightness philosophy of the car - but to help equalise weight distribution front to rear. Somehow I have managed to acquire a square foam toolkit holder from an early car, which I discovered also has a big lump of steel in the bottom, whereas the one that came from my own car (2002) doesn't.

Do you have a picture of that toolkit holder? sound very interesting :)

Today I was finally forced to concede defeat and get a new battery. I can’t imagine I’ll ever own another car that gets 16.5 years out of the original ?. Even my totally reliable Honda suffered battery death before it was 6.
