DIS is a worthwile option New Beetle... it also gives you miles to empty on your current amount of fuel, 2 speed limit settings with alarms and a few other things like better and bigger graphics (like boot, doors open, etc).

Is that your own making or the SEAT website one?. I downloaded a spreadsheet from the SEAT site that calculates just fuel consumption. I'm sure yours is better though!.

Runboy,
Its my own work.
It works out:
mpg between fill-ups
Average mpg over duration
miles per ltr
km per ltr
ltr per 100km
cost per mile
cost per ltr between fill-ups
average cost over a duration
average number of day between fill-ups
average cost per fill-up
average number miles per fill-up

There is also a sample chart for comparisom (based on my previos car)
and a tyre chart - miles per mm .....

oh, there is a space for comments.

Think thats about it!!!!

When I said 90 I should have explained that this was a virtual 90 using sophisticated electronics and organic screen to enhance the VR experience.
Speed does not kill - stopping rather abruptly causes the problem!

A friend's A2 1.4 TDI Sport when it was new did runs from South Wales to Preston and back (380 mile round trip, almost all motorway) at 65 mpg. Now at 17,000 miles it does the same trip at 52 mpg. The official combined figure is 64 mpg. Audi UK Customer Service think that the 52 mpg figure is perfectly acceptable.

Surely you would expect fuel economy to improve with some miles on the clock, not get worse. This sounds like a fault to me - would you agree? The dealership have no clue what the problem might be. Any ideas would be gratefully received...

SH.

Managed average 60.1 mpg over last 13,000 motorway miles @70mph-ish.

Anyone know how a chip change to 100bhp will affect this?

You all must have noticed how badly affected we are by side winds!

foxy

Foxy,
Chipping may infact change this for the better as well as decreasing CO levels

as for side winds, can't say I have..

Just wating for REVO TECHNIK to produce a chip for the A2 as they offer a 5hr free trial which will answer all your question plus if you get the optional dongal you can unchip when it goes back for warranty / service issues.

It is a great system my mate has it on his S3 and for the money i don`t think itcan be bettered. Here`s alink to there site

Still thinking about buying an A2 1.6 FSI, still getting p****d off with insurance companies. Does anyone have any MPG figures for a 1.6? The main reason for me looking at a A2 (other than being a great looking car) was that it might be more expensive to buy than most but it is cheaper to run. But so far looks like I could be ripped of but insurance companines and the suggested MPG from Audi could be wildly inaccurate.

Fuel consumption for the 1.6FSI has been discussed recently in this thread: http://www.a2forum.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1915

I got 68 mpg out of my last tank of fuel (1.4TDi) thats with
doing 40 mile per day, 2/3 of which is motorway. My best mpg has
been 69.
I took the rear seats out at the weekend because I was picking something up. Out of curiosity I weighed the seats, which came to 35kg for both. So this week I am running the car without rear seats to see what it will do.

1st test this week, since I got the car, did 46.7 mpg in my 9000 mile 1.4 petrol, considering this was my first week with the car,and I have been pretty much putting it through its paces (lots of high revs). Climate on about 50% of time and mostly urban driving, So I m thinking that given some careful driving I could easily reach my fantasy figure of 50 mpg. You may not htink this is much of a target but believe me after returns of around 27mpg in my 2.0 beetle I m well chuffed!

My wife used the car to travel away with work last week and the fuel used for the 3 days cost £16, best part is that the petrol allowance her company payed her (she never usually uses our car for works travel) came to £64, woohooo, nearly £50 sould cover the A2's petrol bill for the next month[24]

Last week when driving to summer cottage about 200km, DIS showed average cosumption 2.4 l/100km. I was very happy for it :D

With best regards,
Jones (A2 1.2TDI, no aircon)

I find the fuel consumption figures many quote here more than a little disappointing for a small car, my comparison is 43,000 miles in a 2.0TD Vectra (81BHP non intercooled version) at an average of around 56mpg (Measured by miles divided by petrol put in tank).

Has anyone checked their DIS for accuracy - our Passat is around 3-5 MPG high!

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

Just to clear up the listed consumption Myth. I worked for Renault as an RTE (Renault Technical Expert) for ...well basically way to long, and people were always complaining that their car wasn't doing as many MPG as the manufacturers quoted it would. My friend at Toyota told me that they had the same problem. The figuers you see in the bumf is always the maximum and under normal driving conditions will pretty much never be reached. Your never going to be able to drive like the computer simulations and I'm not sure you'd want to. When road testing with customers who complained, it was quite often that you could see faults in their driving style that caused the lack of expected consumption. The A2 seems pretty amazing in it's economy most of the time, and when it is a bit below it's usually because I've done something to effect it, like driving like a looney. As a couple of you have pointed out also, going slow is not always a guarentee of the best consuption.

Tim,

Welcome to the forum.

The problem I have with AUDI is that they made claims that the A2 could achieve 80mpg (and I am not talking about the 1.2tdi here) Now I only ever seen the good side of 70mpg once on a long trip, and I drive pretty efficiently most of the time. I understand your comment, however sometimes dont you think the manufacturers just go too far in their claims.
