My A2 "Top spec" project (AKA my Holy Grail)

I am even more confused by which colour to have.
Vonnie's white A2 looks GREAT,
Black looks GREAT
and two people suggested Mango Orange (being an A2 colour that was not offered in the UK) so that sounds GREAT too !!!!!!

I will hold off on the spray job for a bit until I am sure (If I ever am!!!)

End of the day Steve you gotta go with what you really want your gut feeling so to speak, makes no odds what others think its you that has to live with it and you thats paying for it, go with your initial thought when you first thought of a colour for the car as thats the one you know will be right in your head!
Any consolation the cars going to look amazing whatever colour you have it sprayed :D

Why compromise on either. I've always thought the A2 (especially with oss) lends itself to having the top half in black as far as the bottom of the a pillar and then another colour (in your case white) underneath. I think Audi have done something similar with the A1.

That is a possibility, the difficulty with trying something you haven't seen before, is just that!! You don't know if it will look right or not.

But that is why it is so hard to come up with a car that looks different as well as good.

So I will be brave and trust my instincts and I hope that I like the end result.

I feel a decision coming on!!!

I think the black OpenSky and seamless front and rear screens will give that effect. Also the Bentley Glacier White Metallic is a Pearlescent and is related to the Audi A1 Glacier White.

I would go for a Pearl white, but as said, go with what your own thoughts tell you on the colour.

Well done for finding a good base car. My project car (lower budget though!) had a similar set of must haves, but I have gone for OSS, cruise, SE with DIS fitted and full leather. Its an FSI but I welcome that challenge!
I think Steve might have the best A2 in existence by the time he finishes.

Hi,

It might be the DEAREST, but not the best, there are many on here that deserve that title, especially since they have done most of the work themselves and I am (regrettably) throwing a chequebook at this one (not my normal approach).

I also need to confirm that I am not competing on this, I am very definitely building this one for me and not to outdo other members.

But thank you CHB for the very kind words!! I will try to live up to them.

If anyone wants to play around with Photoshop or similar and post the results on here I would appreciate it and I am more than happy to select one that I like.

But it is a lot of work for someone.

Unfotunately, my computer skills aren't much past 1 finger typing but if I could I gladly would .

Hi Steve,

I wouldn't expect anyone to do this, even if you have the skills it is a time consuming task.

But thanks for that anyway.

White car with all the plastics painted gloss black, rather than just black plastic, eg fog light surrounds, grills, sill lowers etc.

Would look stunning.
If white then the interior needs to be dark, a dark car can wear a light interior, not sure a white car can.

Votex Kit arrived

Hi,.

Just had the Votex kit delivered/

All new and with all of the bits and instructions.
Also included is the bonding "glue" but that is likely to be unusable due to the time in storage.

You even get the longer towing eye!

Shame that the front and rear parts have warped slightly due to being stored, but that is not a problem, when fitted that will straighten everything.

So this kit is now going into storage for a little while longer while I wait to get my hands on the car!!

A big thank you to "A2look" for helping me find this.

Just need to source the Votex rear spoiler now, more rocking horse "diarrhoea" (diarrhoea is much harder to pick up !!!!!)

;)

I wouldn't mind normally but it sticks out like a sore thumb

If it was me, if the cover is virtually impossible to get, I would glue in a small plate behind the hole and use filler to smooth it out. I would even be tempted to do that to all of the jacking points and carry a small scissor jack instead of the Audi one

Nice smooth cills!!

But then that is just me!

Hi Steve,
what are the 3rd and 4th black parts ? I don't recall getting them with my bodykit...
Thanks :)

Hi
I am not sure yet, I haven't had chance to read the instructions.
But they are quite flimsy and don't look like they are part if the body kit. Perhaps they are just part of the assembly process in some way.

Steve B

The black pieces are fill in sections to stop the road crud collecting- they are featured in the instructions. I doubt it would really cause any issues if not fitted. Mike
