My A2 "Top spec" project (AKA my Holy Grail)

Come on we're 10 pages in and need some pics. This should be a photographic build thread of all the work to inspire us all. Would love to do this project especially as I'm now 12+yrs of A2 ownership.

Good luck

I now have the journey planned to collect the car from Tom.
Going up next Saturday and driving back on Sunday (around 4 hours drive!)

Steve B

On your return, you would be quite welcome to pick-up your 6-speed kit from me, here in beautiful North Wales! There will be good hospitality and I'd so like to meet you, Steve! Anyway, the offer is there and if not, It'll be with "Stealth Racing", anyway. I am not much of a detour from the M6 ....

Hi David,

I will see what is going on, still have mush for a brain with this house move.

If it helps you at all I will try to swing around your way!

It might break the journey up a bit.

Cheers

Not easy to take photos of a car I have never even seen in the flesh.

Tom (Timmus) has been taking pictures as he does the work, but he is busy and will post some shots when he gets chance.

A thread like this needs pictures. I will continue with the shots as soon as I get my hands on the car (this Sunday!)

Cheers

yes i think this should be deleted as it is obviously a make believe thread. first few posts mention its the holy grail as it probably doesnt exist and i dont think this one does exist at page 11 with no pics. if i had that amount of stuff on it i would be showing everyone and to get comments on it. report as fake.......... :p

I am amazed that you think that my thread is fake ????????
Regular A2OC members know me and my project very well.
As I said in a post earlier today, the car is with Tom (Timmus) having a long list of mods

I posted the "before" pictures at the start of the thread and I haven't got the car back yet so I can't post more pictures.

What on earth makes you think it is a fake? You only have to read it to understand what I am doing.

Steve B

Bit of a harsh comment. Having the " Holy grail " A2 doesn't happen overnight and as Steve says the car is at Toms so he can't produce photos. We all know Steve is in the process of creating the ultimate A2 and that is all that matters

im not saying your lying or anything but im not a regular yet so reading loads of stuff happening but not seeing it makes me think it might be bull. saying its somewhere else but its your car and spending soo much on it i would have thought you would go see it so could take pics.

in all i was actually only joking and i am still keeping myself from believing till i see it. I did really think it was a fake thread to start with and especially reading the second post and "mis understanding it" (my bad) heres what i read

"The project was named "The Holy Grail" because I would be looking for something that is so rare that it probably doesn't exist"

and then loads of talking throughout 11 pages and sorry but for someone that doesnt know you or any history it sounds and looks like bulls### and you cant say it doesnt, i dont think i have ever been on a forum and seen someone have 11 pages in a project thread which did not show any pictures of the actual project being done. that is the whole point of a project thread. What you actually need is a blog but not in this section, maybe in the general section.............. but then again its a project........hmmmmm starting to doubt myself now.

as with the ;-P i was only messing about so no need to take offense to it. I will say it straight, the thread sounds like a load of crap and will believe it when i see it, i am extremely jealous and it sounds fricken amazing if it is real.

No your right having a holy grail doesnt happen overnight but if youve had a £1k+ steering wheel fitted you would take a picture. i know i would if i spent that on a steering wheel. blimey!

Steve is a genuine guy, and this post is genuine.

Once you've been around for a while and perhaps met Steve at a social you might have a different take on things.

Some of the work being carried out is in Lancaster, and Steve is in Staines, so quite a distance to travel.

I'm sure there will be many pictures to support this thread in the near future.

Cheers

Jeff

It is real but simply in progress and someone else has it at the moment doing many of the mods.

Sorry you don't seem to like the thread, you are entitled to your opinion. I respect that.
I would appreciate it if you could respect my post too.

I haven't taken offence but you have not exactly been fair.
Each to their own.

Sorry i did not mean to be unfair, i did think it was a fake thread and fair play everyone has made sure i know its not fake. Cant wait to see pics though it sounds like an s-line a2 in the making ;-)

Please accept an on-line "handshake" to show there is no hard feelings.

It is the spread of different opinions and characters that makes the world go around.

I am as keen to post the pictures as you are to see them.

I pick the car up on Sunday !!!

Personally Steve I wouldn't post pictures on here until after AITP14 then unveil it at the show, with the A2 covered up . That's just me :)

I couldn't believe what I read on the previous page. How can anyone doubt The Steve.B after his other "Restoration Projects" But then again,if one is not a regular as mentioned above then you wouldn't know the Steve we all know of on here!

Got nuff Love for you Steve and I'm sure this will be worth the wait. Patience is a virtue

Rest assured, the project is real. I know because I've been working on it solidly for the last few days... and intermittently for much longer than that.

I will post photos on Sunday with something of a description of all the options I've added to Steve's car. The list is fairly lengthy!
I haven't been posting photos for two reasons. Firstly, I've not had an awful lot of time; work's been busy recently. But also, I'd like to unveil the car for Steve when he finally collects it on Sunday. Although I'll not be draping a sheet over it or anything like that, I'd just like Steve to be able to see it for the first time in the flesh rather than in a trickle of techy photos. He's only been waiting for 5 months!

Cheers,

Tom

Latest update.

Calendar for June !!!!!!!

1st June - Finally get my hands on the car!!! Up to Lancaster and shake Tom's (Timmus) hand for the excellent help so far
1st June - On the journey back stop off to David's (DJ 190) place In Wales) to shake his hand for getting the 6 speed kit for me (and for holding on to it for so long!!!)
2nd June - Over to Chesham to shake Jason's hand for hanging on to the seats for so long! (the heated cream leather recaro fronts and the front and rear cream leather std seats)
2nd June - Dropping off the seats at my favourite trimmer to have the recaros modified to take iPads in the headrests, and a custom leather and silver alcantara retrim, front and rear (and matching door cards)
3rd June - MY BIRTHDAY !!! and what a present to myself, the project is now taking off fully at last!!!
9th June - Off to Hazzydaze for the flat bottom Multi Function Steering Wheel, RNS E (Mk2), Audi Bluetooth and voice activation
16th June - off to Vince at Stealth, to have the 6 speed kit and new clutch fitted and a custom remap
28th June - off to my favourite sprayshop to have the Votex kit fitted and then the full respray in deep BLACK Ultra Glossy show finish paint.

After that is done, fit the seats and new door cards and think of other things to do with the car (enjoying it is the first thing on the list, but I feel that the mods won't stop there, rear disc conversion for a start!)

Oh and the tyres (215 35 18s) and new centre caps have arrived, so I will get the tyres fitted and balanced ready to go on the car when I get it back! (I will then have to sort out where they will rub and buy some denture fixative for the bumpy roads!!)

The pictures will start flowing from Sunday onwards, just in case there are any doubters out there ;)

Watch this space!

"The time is Nigh" LOL :D

Steve, seems like you have a busy schedule ahead. Wishing you smooth sailing with all those miles to be covered.

Can't wait to see pic's, though the car looks great as it stands (page 1)

Going be an exciting month for you. Can't wait to see the updates. Safe journey sunday :)

I'm starting to think it may be worth the 7 hour round trip to AITP to see this car.

Yes, I have tried to leave enough gap between each bit of work, to allow for the likely delays! But it should work out well (hopefully)

Yes, the car is in superb condition as it is, I wanted as solid a base for the project as possible.

Shame I have to respray it but even if I had found a black one, it would have needed painting anyway, to get it to the deep black gloss I want!

So fingers crossed!
