Project Pine Green 1.6

How is the door adjusted Steve? I’d like to adjust mine in the up down plane, I see yours is the in out plane though. I was thinking you have to remove the wing to access it all? Looks great by the way. You should post all your cars that you photod in that spot, be a calendar full!

It's just the works carpark lol.

There is limited adjustment in the doors, but enough to make a difference. The top and bottom bolt can be adjusted with the door open, you can release the tension on the hinge by undoing the multipline bolts a bit and then lift the door up and down a few mm. It's better with 2 people, but i'm always working on my own so just put the window down and support the door over my shoulder like a gaint handbag.

There is also quite a lot of adjustment in the door catch that the door lock latches to. This is mainly in and out adjustment, but there is another cm of up and down movement there too.

Thanks Steve! I meant you could review all your cars in a cool way by showing that same s**t for each one

After a bit more adjustment last night I think I’ve now got it sitting level on the coilovers. Handling is now much better and it’s no longer pulling to the left on braking.

The more I drive this car the more I want to drive it. I’d urge anyone with a failing 1.4 to go down this route, there’s just so much more torque over the 1.4 it makes driving so much easier. Even on the steepest of hills the car is looking to change up a gear.

That really is a stunning looking A2. Such a rich and varied colour and those wheels 😍

How is the ride/suspension experience compared to the off-road inspired ones you built; coil-overs vs fabia long travel suspension?
I like the looks of this one, but thinks even an std A2 is too uncomfortable suspension wise 🙂.

Good question.

Raised springs are more comfortable than new standard suspension.

New standard suspension is more comfortable than old worn suspension.

Coilovers are more comfortable than old worn suspension but not new standard suspension.

Old worn suspension are the pits :)

I remember the original shafts on the N/s lasting about 2k with the engine . And bigger wheels don’t help,🤦‍♂️

But did 20k on the replacements and they are still fine and sitting on my garage floor .

Well would you Adam and Eve it.

Turns out my vibration, clunking under braking, pulling to the left under braking and variable brake force and a bit of juddering when coming off throttle wasn’t a knackered driveshaft.

All of the above was caused by a £7.99 abs sensor I fitted.

The crappy signal to the abs unit must have been causing the brakes to come on and off while driving.

Have now got a £35 Bosch one on order for tomorrow and the car is also running fine without the dodgy abs sensor even fitted.

Morale of the story, cheap is dear and dear is cheap.

That's what was happening to me with my failing original sensor. Great stuff!! Drive on steady
