Hi Howey, you don't want to know how I did it believe me . But now I can tell you how to do it properly if you have a single DIN radio. Pull the surround trim from around the storage area just above the ashtray, its firmly clipped in to the storage area. once it's off there are 2 torx T15 screws that hold the ashtray in place. Then when fitted clip the surround back onto the storage area.

Many thanks, sorry for your loss but you cant make omelette without....
 
Ha Ha indeed! There is also a diode (led light) that clips to the rear of the ashtray, hopefully yours is intact in the dash slot for the ashtray

Have not noticed a red glowing glow but could be taped/tucked up. On that note the back of the cubby hole compartment has all been taped up to form a back, god knows whats been going on with it!
 
Incidentally got my tyres changed to 175/65/15
Wanted a little extra height what with multiple speed bumps in the local area!
Seem to drive better but those old tyres were passed it so hard to tell if the extra rubber does anything!
Also bought some Bosch front discs for £25.50 inc postage (almost bought the second set they have but was good)
 
Getting to storage cubby out can feel like you are breaking it. The fist inside and yank technique just feels so wrong...

So today I ... installed my first aid kit and warning triangle ???lol ok not the most difficult thing to do , thanks A2Steve for sorting one, I did also install new headlight bulbs in the vain hope of seeing where I'm going at night ! The lights so far are the only disappointment. Oh and I made a trip to Stealth today ....update to follow ☺
 
...took a picture of it titled 'A New Dawn'. I won my bet and now I'm free to drive it without forfeit!

Ordered a new battery as the original is struggling now it’s colder and I have only driven the car on weekends for the last month or so, rookie error when I removed it to put it on charge and I shut the boot, doh. That manual release came in handy. Note I have no build sticker in the battery tray, any ideas where else it can be? I need to check my paint code.
