Today I.....

today I changed my front sidelight bulbs for LED's as one of the original bulbs was less bright than the other. thanks to this forum for the tip to remove headlights first. also greased the door hinges and check straps and latches, silicone sprayed the window runners and had a gentle fettle of my newly acquired A2 1.4. It was also nice to see that the rear wheel cylinders were replaced recently too.

Did you actually take the belt off Dave?
Not likely as unnecessary. Place bucket of hot water on the seat, put as much belt in as will reach, agitate as required (the belt not yourself). :) Dry and marvel at the new found retraction speed. I use clips to hold the belt out for better drying(usually during summer though we have summer temps here at the moment) .

Over the years fibres, sweat, body oils and general dirt gets into the seat belt fabric and degrades its ability to retract. The washing powder helps to remove these and in effect it gives the belt a good clean and makes the material more supple again making movement easier. Make sure you put a towel over the seat though before placing the bucket on it just in case of a spillage. ?

Plumbed in a hands free blue tooth /usb /memory card /ipod gizmo into the back of my Symphony stereo so I can play music from my phone through Bose .......great stuff .......Oh and if anyone needs the radio unlock code for their stereo, this guy on ebay was super quick and super cheap.

See how long I can keep this resolution going?
Don’t buy anything new until I have fitted what I have already bought.
Day 1, spent nothing.
Fitted the A/C control decals I bought early August.
Fixed and fitted the fuse box cover I bought from @Clackers with the @depronman 3D printed repair kit also back in August.
Treated the car to a new coat of RainX external and anti mist internal. Just the brake refresh parts and the B pillar switches and the drivers door lock to go before I can spend any more money (all in my parts department), must stick to plan A!
I also tried the seatbelt soak yesterday, must admit i didn’t seen any retraction improvement, maybe just needs to dry more.

Today to my surprise, my Cobalt one passed its MOT ? Advisory for pitted/worn front discs but I'll pick those up at service time. What surprised me was that I am hearing a lot of boing-ing from the nearside on turning the steering wheel, I was expecting at least an advisory on the strut-top bearing. I'm having them look at that anyway.

I had the strut tops done on my Seat last year after the garage put a note on the receipt for my MOT, but there was no official comment on the MOT for them, so maybe the actual performance of that bearing can be very poor before it’s an official fail or advisory.

Yes, I've noticed that they do the lock to lock with the car lifted on chocks when the car is up in the air so there won't be any weight on the top mount bearings as such.

Discovered this piece on the end of flexi tube wasn't attached to anything and I'm not sure what it is.

I'm sure that the water catcher should be attached to that.
It's to catch the water from the drain tube on the bonnet.
If it is that then you need to get one ASAP because water will drain onto the top of the gear selection tower and cause problems later.
