Today I.....

No it will indeed run better. The sooner it gets to 85+ degrees the sooner the ecu moves to the main map files and stops Injecting extra fuel to compensate for the cold engine

Great. always satisfying when you do a job and it works! glad I put the cement mixing tray under the car before I took the cover off!

Today my parcel arrived from Audi Tradition. Many thanks to Rick Rickmeister in Germany for organising a combined order and to Graham vagdream for being the UK distributor. The postage direct from AT would be normally c£30 but by combining orders my combined postage came to c£9 :)

This is a great service that Rick is providing and thanks also to other A2 club members for their orders and for working together to sort out the onward deliveries.

These parts are the trim on the sills that need to be removed (and all accounts say they break 100% of the time) before you can remove the black side valences.

Oh much did these come to?

Between yesterday and today managed to overcome my usual fears for getting things wrong and replaced the ns tie rod end and cv joint. Tackling the os tie rod end today.

The cv joint has to be the most messy job ever.

Big thanks to all and the huge pile of valuable info on here that allowed me to carry this out.

I found a drivers side splittable headlight for a bargain price and in perfect condition, as I walking down the drive with light in one hand and a Jack in the other I tripped over a kerb and broke the top bracket, less annoying was the bloody knee!

Today I plugged in and went through all the available VCDS modules on the unregistered 'Lite' version with a 'proper' Gendan cable.
Earlier in the year I replaced the thermostat housing, thermostat and G62 sensor - as a new complete unit from Topran - anyone that's read my post on this will realise that the thermostat in the unit was the wrong opening temperature for my BBY petrol, it is the metal type stamped 82° and should have been the 87° black cylinder ... well I have a theory regarding a lack of heat from the vents !!
No faults are recorded on the HVAC module on VCDS yet the heat coming out of the vents isn't as hot as it once was (prior to the new thermostat), even after an Italian tune up!!
The thermostat is working, the lower pipe to the radiator gets hot when the engine warms up and the pipes to the heater matrix are both hot to touch, going through the Engine measuring blocks I can see that the coolant temperature is reading 82° as expected.
The HVAC measuring block (no7) is more or less in sync with what it shows on the climate control display … it goes down to 3° on Low but stops climbing beyond 24° when moving up to High and should get up to 29° and beyond.
So, back to my theory … if I can find an 87° metal thermostat to fit the Topran housing I'm thinking that the coolant passing through the heater matrix will get 5° hotter and give me 29°+ on the measuring block and full heat from the vents … anybody agree or disagree?

Today I converted my BSS into an OSS again - by changing the whole roof .
Thanks to @devans who spotted the replacement on a facebook A2 group, and facilitated "first contact", I collected it this lunchtime and it was in and working by 16:00.
The biggest PITA is cleaning off all the old sealing tape and adhesive, to do a thorough job takes as long as removing and refitting the complete roof.
Still got the headliner to refit, that's tomorrow afternoon's job.
Nice not to have parcel tape sealing the gap and stopping the whistling anymore.

Hi Steve, same problem with my "open sky", exactly which grease do I ask for, and is it available away from the main dealer. As I only have 222K the tdi has a lot more work to do.
