A2OC Club Badges

A2sumo - very good point. I agree 110% with your proposal.

Keep the original badge and have a 10th anniversary window decal.

Hi Guys, I am interested and I am a Graphic Designer - Plus I have 2 A2OC badges on my A2 in the s-line position. I love the fact everyone thinks there S-line badges and they are not. Some people who look closely really look confused when they see A2OC!

Whilst I am a massive fan of everything Audi that the brand produces, if we can produce something decent and different - not faux Audi but inkeeping with the brand and is a badge that also states 10th Anniversary surely that is a good idea?

PS. I am not suggesting a huge shinny awful looking badge...something I can look into if you guys want me to. I just quickly had a look at this but I am at work at the mo so can't give it to much time...

We could just have the 10th Anniversary to fit under existing A2OC badges and we could then have some normal A2oc badges made as well, maybe thats a cheap idea... infact now I have written that down, it sounds naff... so not a good idea.

Having said that, it's Bens decision.

OOh! I have some influence do I :)

We are pretty much a democracy of sorts around here - so I'm happy to write the cheques for the consensus opinion - be that a first-past-the-post option or an alternative-vote one :)

I guess the benefit of an additional anniversary badge is that: a) existing badge owners might care to purchase one to add to the collection; and b) we can continue with the regular badges for when the 10 year anniversary badges run out or become obsolete. The downside is obviously cost - as a new member wanting both would need to pay for 2 badges.

Let's see what figures the supplier comes back with and we can decide then. In the meantime I'll disable the badge on the shop and refund those of you who have already paid up.

Ben

Please don't do an adaptation of the original RS2 logo, that would just be wrong - there is nothing remotely relating to a thrumming 5cyl turbo, Porsche or quattro to the A2...
As an ex-S2 owner I used to get so angry when I saw modded Golfs with RS2 badges on them on a regular basis!

This is getting painfull, I would much prefer a good quality Lapel Pin Badge.

Any comments?

Comments? - Sure.

Not interested in a lapel badge personally, and far from being painful this is an interesting debate in my view (as it was when the original A2OC badge was dreamed up!)
I quite like Lambys idea in Audi's font - I'd have no intention of replacing my current badges on the rear bump strips and the 10 year one would be nice under the engine variant; same size and design as a quattro badge.

This would mean that there would probably be a need for both badges to be manufactured though - as the OC will likely be the most popular. Therefore as already stated; costs could be quite high. Look forward to reading more ideas :D

just a thought

Are we just looking to mark the '10th Anniversary' or would a general 'Anniversary Edition' badge be considered.

We all know the current A2 was and is likely to be the only Aluminium version that Audi produced no MkII etc, and we could as proposed mark the occasion with the '10th Anniversary' badge. or

We could mark the 10th Anniversary of the individual A2s from date of first registration hence 'Anniversary Edition'.

Size wise, suggest restricted to the width of the rear A2 badge, as this is a constant across the A2 range.

Hi Murdo, I couldn't find the correct Audi Typeface, Audi uses a version of Adrian Frutiger font Univers and I need to find the right one, I have Univers but I have so many cuts of it I need to see which one it is, the typeface I used on the mock up idea was Quattro - but once again, has nothing to do with the A2 so I will have a thing about that as well. I like the idea about incorporating the design ideas of the A2 in to the badge. It wound not be practical in a badge, but I love the A2 RUSTY POSTER that as it rained and rusted the treated part of the advert didn't rust and you could see the outline of an Audi A2. Very powerful image that, clever too.

Good man, I was thinking exactly that before I read your post! I'd love something that goes along that theme while celebrating 10yrs (in fact, my very own A2 is 10yr old next month!)

You can put me down for the 10th anniversary badges I think it would be a great idear.

Cheers

David

You can definitely put me down for one too mate. Sounds fantastic. Off to see Vince at Stealth for remap on the 19th. Pics to follow

This gets my vote. The whole 10th thing looks clumsy anyway - and this allows us to use if for the next 2 years or so.

Also agree that we shouldn't be changing the original - it worked OK. And also agree that we should steer clear of upsetting RS owners. We all know what happened last time!

The simple image referenced by AlanA2 in an Anniversary Edition would look neat. (Note also that this link throws up a trojan horse - so avoid clicking on that page).

Ben

PS I have the AudiSans typeface in 2 weights - but Audi changed their corporate typeface last year.

10th for a year at a special slightly higher price ... then back to the normal ones
which can be partly paid for by the specials....??? no??....Yes....??

Hi Ben,

Yeap - Audi Sans is now Audi Type, slightly amended and only side by side can you really see the difference. I will get a copy in a .ttf file, should have all the cuts as I now a chap who did a pitch for them end of last year.
